plug is back of oil pan, 15 mm wrench. oil filter is under supercharger or beside inlet tube between it and the fuse box, 24 mm socket iirc I have a special socket for it...cartridge type oil filter. TRry the search button, you will get less flack that way...

Its a 32 mm if I'm not mistaken and fun to get to. Maybe buy a hanes manual if your having trouble fastening the seatbelts

OP if you look at the top left corner of the forum screen, you'll notice the "forum jump" button. Click that, and a scroll down menu will open. Scroll down until you see the "How To" section. If you click that button, you will notice a how-to write-up about changing the oil on a supercharged cobalt.

Yup its 32mm. This was the best 10 bucks I ever spent for doing our oil changes. Even though its 14 bucs right now thats still cheaper than a 32mm socket.

there is actually a special ecotec oil filter socket, snap on makes one that around $35, lisle makes one thats about $8. they are very shallow and 3/8 drive. this allows you to go between the supercharger and valve cover with an extension to get to the cap. i find the wrench method is a little awkward with the blower in the way.

this is the socket from lisle- Amazon.com: Lisle 14700 Oil Filter Wrench for GM 2.2L: Automotive
this is the snap on- A106, Socket, Oil Filter, GM Ecotec Engines, 1 1/4" (32mm), 3/8" drive

Well I do have to take the blower off anyways since theres a power steering pump in the way on my engine. And its not like taking the blower off takes any longer than 2 minutes if you have a breaker bar and allen head sockets.
