Drivability of stages and suggestions?

I have a 06' SS which I love, and want to do some modifications to. I'm fairly car savvy, and have no problem putting them on myself. So my questions are, Stage 2 or 3?

Stage 2 seems to be the most common here, is that about the limit of using it as a DD? If I get stage 3 am I just going to spin right through 1st and 2nd? First thing I'm doing is eliminaing the wheel hop. (Ordering OTTP tranny mounts if they are reccomended) and looking at the ZZP either Stage 2 or 3. If I get either of these which of the options are reccomended?

I've read through the guidlines and done some searching, but came up empty handed in the drivability questions. Thanks.

Also and suggestions like "Don't get a stage kit just get this..." are welcome. Whatever set-up is the best. I don't have an unlimited supply of funds but I'm not on a super tight budget either. I'm willing to spend a few bucks.

every company has a different stage kit

like the ottp stage 2 is the equivalent to the zzp stage 3
which one were you looking at?

ZZP Stage 2 or 3 as stated .

I just mentioned OTTP for the mounts.

Thanks!

daily drivablity is no problem with any kit!! you just have more psi and more throttle response.....just adjust to that and your good which will not take long at all

ottp stage 2 would be equal to zzp stage 3 if it had a front mount h/e....

My mods are in the sig but I am rolling with ZZP's stage 3 with meth, 60s, S3 H/E and a 2.8. This is my DD and have no problem at all. The 50% boost reduction in first is a huge help as I don't spin unless I hit it hard. You may also notice I have no mounts or torque dampener. I would say go stage 3 and have a blast

Thanks guys,

How did you get the 50% reduction in first gear brideout? No mount or dampener? Do you have hop? Mine is pretty bad and I'm stock.

How much quicker is stage 3 than 2? And how much quicker is it over stock?

Lastly, will it affect highway mileage a ton? I do a lot of highway driving for work.

ZZP's stage 3 pcm comes with the boost reduction. I only have hop when I get on it hard. Its a huge difference from stock. Idk about how much quicker it is over stage 2 but its night and day difference over stock. I'm not sure about highway millage before the stage kit but after I get around 31 MPG and thats with some city driving and getting on it every once in a while.

Here is a write up I did when I installed the Stage 3 Kit

--the reduction is done through tuning, you can get the reduction at whatever % you want in any gear...
--less hop will come with learning the car better...along with mods
--if u arfe reffering to zzp stage 2 and 3 theres not much difference other than the s3 kit will help keep ur car cooler with the front mount heat exchanger which will allow you to run a little better of a tune to see more hp gains but as far as the bolt on equiptment they are the same...
--stock pully psi is 12 vs. 2.8 pully at 17.5psi depending on ur elevation and conditions..and there is a lot more low end power with the kits and more throttle response as well
--your highway milage will actually go up lol mine did!! and the only time it will decrease is when in boost, so try if you can but boost for me is very addicting

From: New Jersey then. Now Orlando Florida
Ottp's website or zzp's are my favorite. They run around $300-$500 depending on your custom setup.

Thats "Slightly modified"? haha.

So as far as a stage kit with a canned tune vs piecing one together and getting a trifecta, which would be better/reccomended? Thanks for the help guys.

my personal opinion is its a major difference, just different type of power that is for sure. Im trying to get ot 400whp with the tvs, i like the supercharger, nothing like instant boost.

i used to list my mods but when i got +10k into it i erased it, thought it was funner to keep everyone guessing

i cant comment on trifecta, no experience, if you can find a local tuner so if something goes wrong someone is there to help you fix it

I don't think there is one in Lethbridge. I noticed your from Calgary, do you get your tuning done there?

Joel
