I've got a resonator on the way.. do you have one in your set-up?

If it still sucks... I'll be trading to the 4.0 and up.. 90 day sound warranty ftw

yeah mine is really raspy as well although I am catless with an 18" resonator I may throw a vibrant 12" bottleneck resonator in where the cat used to be and see if that helps with the rasp

I run a 6" round magnaflow race muffler on a muffler swap on stock cat back. Sounds good to me.

Didn't sound that bad imo, but then again videos rarely do the actual sound justice.

It wouldn't take much to be quieter than this.. LOL.. Especially at WOT.. this muffler is basically an 8-10" resonator once that valve opens..

36" Resonator should arrive tomorrow, but it will be a couple weeks before i can get it welded in.. :-/

Do you think the fact its a 3inch has something to do with it being more raspy and/or loud?

I've currently got the VT in my garage along with a ZZP midlength header/catless DP. Its gonna be a 2.5in setup. Im thinking i should just pick up a resonator now...im kinda scared its gonna be raspy as ****

The 3" definitely makes it worse.. without question.. but imo a resonator is never a bad call..

Oh it will be raspy as **** lol. I have basically your same setup and I am running a 18"resonator and it is still raspy I am picking up a vibrant stainless steal muffler and having it welded in where a cat would be

Anyone who doubts this muffler goto yamaha-motors.com and take a look at the video for the 2011 Nitro snowmobile's new super exhaust. Basically a valved exhaust that increases low end and allows flow for high rpm hp's

Nevermind. I can't find the damn video myself. Maybe it was an article I read somewhere.

Basically is is the same muffler design, and had proof of higher low and middle torque, and same high end hp. with way less noise. Had dyno proof too. Engine was a 10,000 rpm 4 stroke yammie (1200cc???)

I have a question for you guys, Im looking into resonators now. Mandrel Exhausts can incorporate the standard 4inch round, 18" long magnaflow resonator into the exhaust you buy (just buying new pipes). However, i've noticed that you can get up to a 7inch round resonator. I dont know alot about them, but wouldnt the bigger around the resonator is quiet things down?
