E85 vs. Race Gas?
E85 vs. Race Gas?
what gives out more power?? im getting trifecta stage 3 soon and might get 2 seperate tunes (E85,93) since my buddy is a dealer but if race gas gives out more power ill just use HOM
im on TVS also

E-85 acts a cooling mod also, if you have access to it I'd run it.
You'll make tons of power, be able to apply lots of timing and run cooler. While paying A LOT less than race gas.

true... its just that its extra money for that extra tune lol and i dont have E85 here my buddy will bring me 5 gallons or so
I don't have much experience with race fuel, I've ran it, but just to prevent detonation when at track.
With E85, I can run pretty ridiculous amounts of timing and have yet to see a hint of detonation and not to mention the awesome cooling and clean parts.

I run race gas, but if you have access to E-85 I would go that route.
Race gas is great for running lots of timing, and preventing detonation, but E-85 does pretty much the same thing (even aids in cooling).

how much u think i can expect on E85 with TVS 2.9 80# injectors option B dual pass OTTP H/E ZZp header and gutted downpipe with 2.5 exhaust, fujita CAI

With a good tune I'm sure you could see some where in the neighborhood of 320-330whp. Def ask WSFrazier. He has put down some good numbers with a budget build. I'm not sure what size pulley he runs, but I'm sure he can help you along with your build, and give you some pointers/tips.

I dont run a TVS, so my estimate is not exact. That is just the average I've seen for TVS cars with similar mods to yours.
WSFrazier put down 352whp with pretty much a stock exhaust (stock header, GMPP catback). Again, I'm not sure what pulley he runs, or what else he has done. I think it will all depend on your tune, and how aggressive you want to go.

Race gas is better for a ***** to the wall lean tune, because it keeps making power the leaner you go. Where as e-85 tends to start losing power at anything leaner than ~.8 lamda..
but... most ppl don't want to run that ragged edge...

either will work. but i would use E85 in a daily driven car if there was a pump close to me. its about 108octane and unleaded. vs 110-112-116 leaded fuels. now don't get me wrong leaded isn't bad. but if you have a cat it will clog it up. it will leave residue on your springs and other valvetrain components(good and bad cause it acts as a cushion on the springs but..it leaves the **** behind) and will also slowly clog your fuel system(although running regular gas through it afterwards should clean it up pretty good). also most stations don't have it so you'd have to get it from the track when you go. E85 can be found at pumps, unleaded, and almost always cheaper. and only slightly less octane. burns cooler and produces pretty much the same numbers as 110 will.

Id go E85 simply because of price and availability. You will feel a HUGE defference going from premium to E85, but you most likely wont hit 350whp on the stock head on a 2.9. I have a spare stock head sitting around if you want to go the ported head route. I just got my ported head on and it made a huge difference. Here is a horrible quality video I took yesterday doing a 40-113 or so pull. This is only on a 2.9 with 22* max timing (not aggressive at all) only reving to 7100. I have my good camera back now so Ill put on my aggressive timing map and make another vid soon.

ill prolly do a dyno on E and one on race gas just to see difference
