Mine came out perfectly fine. Thousands of miles later, still good.

I used JBWeld. I took the rotors out to place a piece of tape inside.

That top pic is mine. You just have to make 1000% sure that you don't get any INSIDE the blower. Otherwise it'll fuck your rotors.
|
you could take the rotors out, use the quicksteel. and then when it dries, use a small pilot-like drill bit like a #40 and put a very small hole in the center of the quick steel. then some air will be able to get through reducing the pressure on the quick steel and minimizing the chance of it going anywhere.

hey maybe you could use Mighty Putty! It can pull a semi and lift a cinderblock.

What about drill and tap? put small plates over the holes! like 8-32 or 5-40.Machine the plates just a little over size with two or three screws holding them on.

That is not a good idea first of all. Second, if you want to discuss how to f*ck up your blower, and possibly your engine...start a new thread, cause I don't want it in mine. Sealing those holes is not going to do anything for you except make the blower louder and increase your chances of catostrophic failure. End /discussion... |

Ok, guys I have something for you. Let's just say, well, I'll let the pics do the talking.
Coming VERY soon. Here are the pics. In the first picture, you can see the holes that are 'filled' via silencer mod. You can actually SEE the outline of the JBWeld I used around the holes. Where is the JBWeld now? Well it can either be A. Wedged in the Intake Manifold somewhere or B. Disintegrated and now mia. Now either way both A and B are VERY bad, but my motor hasn't gone boom yet so I'm unsure of what to say. I initially did the mod 7/1/2007 so almost a year later and thousands of miles she still runs. I don't know when they came out but like I said, it runs fine still. https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...3/img_0031.jpg The second, third, and fourth pictures show the teflon coating on the rotor lobes actually coming off. I'm unsure of why this is happening to my supercharger. https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...3/img_0032.jpg https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...3/img_0033.jpg https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...3/img_0034.jpg Guys, if you want to risk damaging your motor/blower then by all means go ahead, but if you're interested in plugging the silencer holes, PLEASE do it the right way. I can't stress that enough. |
That's why you don't use JB Weld... not as strong. Did you clean up the holes before you JB Welded it?
|
Dude I cleaned, scrubbed, did everything.
Honestly, I'm not too worried about it. If something was too happen, it would have happened already. |
True... I honestly don't think its worth it either. I didn't even notice a difference with my car.
|
I noticed a big difference in mine when they were in. I slowly noticed the whine got quieter and quieter but thought I got used to it. Now I know what happened.
If I were you, pull it back off and remove that quicksteel. Take 40 minutes at most. I had my blower off in 15 minutes. |
I'm glad nothing happened to your motor bro. Talk about your close calls, lol...
|
Nice write up man!

im working on porting mine out right now, im focusing more on smoothing out the inlet/outlet and polishing it rather than focusing on porting the hell out of it. Im still opening it up a little bit, but nothing drastic.
as for those holes, fuck filling them in. If you want to hear your s/c get an intake or a smaller pulley. i'll make a thread for mine later |
Good for you, post up a link to you're thread when you're done...
I'm thinking about doing the same thing sometime soon, because I have a feeling that my bearings need to be re-greased and I need new oil in it. Lots of time in the upper RPM band has got my blower a bit upset. While I have it off, why not get it polished up inside and painted outside? |
lets make sure its a factual post..
i've seen far too many with false information i.e. oil changes every 30k, use mobil 1, etc.. |

Lots of time in the upper RPM band has got my blower a bit upset. While I have it off, why not get it polished up inside and painted outside? i think the blower im working on only has like 20k miles, but i figured if its off why not just re-grease and put new oil in. |
So this quicksteel stay away from or what? Cuz I've got my blower off and quicksteel in hand lol
Bump I need someone to tell me cuz im wanting to do this |
