Effects of running lean

I lost to a 2.85 and 42# balt with h/e and hiflo cat and modded stock exhaust 3 times in a row by the same amount.

I'm 2.8 60#s catless, gmpp sport, dualpass, h/e

my afr was lean at 12.1 which i know is bad and if i had heat soak or was super lean how much would that effect the pull? we went from a 40 and he pulled before we shifted to 3rd so pls dont make driver error comments

to my knowledge running that lean will lead to a blown motor over time or on the nex wot. you want to keep your afrs in the 11's.

Meh 12.1 wont hurt anything on that setup. The car would probably like to be a little richer but as long as you arent knocking it would just be considered a little bit on the "aggressive" side.

Exactly ^^^

OP,
Throw a 3gph water/meth nozzle pre blower w/ a 50/50 mix, should richen you to roughly 11.6-11.7 and crank the timing.

These cars don't make much power from fuel... its all in the boost (efficiency) and timing.

That's what I was wondering. And 12.xx is a bit sketch to me. Maybe 11.8. Is your IC pump good? What are your IAT's? If you know him and can I'd log both cars and compare.

12.1 isn't dangerous. just aggressive as long as it's not knocking

WOW that first part is my setup, the 2.85 and the 42s... He must be cutting it close on his injectors like I am. I have plans this summer hopefully to upgrade to 60s. I want to do an exhaust and injector upgrade, that way I only have to pay for tuning once. I dont have the HE or any exhaust mods though.
