Exclamation Engine Flat Lining Under Hard Acceleration !!!

Hey Guys, Have Anyone Of You Had Any Trouble With Your 2.0 Shutting Down Under Hard Acceleration???
It Happened Tonight, And About A Week Ago , I Was Gettin Busy On The Gas Pedal And The Car Bucked And The Motor Shut Down Completly No Banging Noises, No Tack Signal Just Udder Silence And I Coasted To A Stop And The Car Didn`t Start Back Up !!!!
I Popped The Hood To A Look Under To See If Something Came Disconected Nothing, Waited 2 Minutes The Motor Started With The Cel On All The Way Home ! The Code Was A Po335 Crankshaft Position Sensor Circut Sensor (a)
Has Anyone Had Trouble With These Sensors Or Is This A First??? Please Help Me With Some Feedback !!!

STAGE 2 INSTALLED ABOUT 1200 MILES AGO, COULD DEALER BROKE THE SENSOR INSTALLING THE STAGE 2 KIT , OR THE SUPERCHARGER BELT?????

It's the sensor. Known issue some people have.

Actually happened to me. Never got it fixed but it never came back either.

I was WOT in 2nd around 5500 when it happened.

Yeah, I have been meaning to replace the CPS, its only $20 or so, but my car only did that shut-ff trick twice and the last time was over a year ago, so i'm not gonna worry about it.

I had posted about this problem a while ago.

My new '07 stopped dead when I only had like 1500 miles on the car. Took 10 minutes before it would start up again. Then a CEL lit up.

Went immediately to the dealer, and they put in a new crankshaft sensor - under warranty.

Don't mess around taking a chance peeps, if your car suddenly stops running for no reason, have the dealer check it out.

Get it fixed NOW ...

I sell cars for a GM dealer. My car did the same thing, I took it in and they replaced the sensor under the warranty. Seems like it is a national thing.

This is actually a common problem on many different makes and models of cars.

I'm a gm tech if the cel came on at one time the code will be store as a history code. so if they check the info and see what happened at the time the light came on they should be able to fix it.

My car decided to shut off on the way home last night. I got a new sensor today, and $30 later i'm back in buisness. Woulda been a quick job, but I dropped the little bolt that holds the sensor behind the starter and it took forever to find it and get it out.

ItalianJoe...wow that sucks--glad you got it fixed though. Too bad that bolt was such a pain in the ass. :P

EDIT: has anyone done a howto on swapping out this sensor? I'm sure mine will inevitably fail, in time.

Theres not much to it, just take a 10mm socket on a 6" extension, work it in there, remove the bolt, CAREFULLY grab the sensor with pliers and pull it out ( Maybe you can get it by hand, but not my big ass self). Unplug the old sensor, I re-taped the little wire harness because the ends were coming untaped.
Plug the new sensor it, put a little lithium grease on the o-ring and push it back into the block, try to align the bolt hole as much as possibe. I used a tiny screwdrive to center the holes, then use the bolt to tighten the sensor gently, hand tight plus one little pull. Done. The instructions called for a Crank Variaton Re-learn, but my CEL didn't even come on. Car started right up and has been running like a champ ever since.

As a helper for installing the bolt without dropping it, tape it into the socket. I used a little blue masking tape, around the top 1/4" of the threads and onto the socket, held it firm until I got it tight, then just pull the socket off at an angle to break the hold of the tape.
