Quick question

i was on my way to the store and my car shut down. Its a 05 cobalt ss. I turned the A/C on and drove got to the stop sign and the RPM jumped from like 200 to 1200 up and down then the display said ENG PWR REDUCED and then it shut off and displayed ENGINE DISABLED. Has anyone had this problem and what is the cause of it?

It turned back on and runs fine when the AC is off.

I'm suprised that has never happened to me in the 110 heat here. We're you beating on the car before it happened?

 

No i only got into second gear didnt go over 3 -4 rpms then just happened when i pushed the clutch in.

I've had the 'reduced engine power' light come up before and that was because I had forgot to replace the mass air flow sensor that plugs into the supercharger after an oil change. Maybe you have a bad sensor somewhere...

 

same thing happened to me last year but the dealership could not figure it out. happened a couple times and i would just pull over and shut it off for a few min and turn it back on and it was fine. has not happened to me since i got stage one on

 

I had to have it towed to the dealer. They said the PCM was shot and they replaced it. Now my car idles like **** and will jump up and down, still trying to figure out what that is.

 

I had the same symptoms plus more, the oil on my K&N f'd my MAF. the dealer replaced it and my car has never driven better! more info here...
