Has this happened to anyone else? 4th gear run up to redline...about 140MPH. Leave it in gear and let your foot off the gas using the motor to slow the car. Then at 135MPH the car shuts off. I lost all my power steering and brakes. I pulled to the side. Car wouldn't start for about 30 seconds, then stumbled back to life. I drove away as the car was running a little rough at first. No problems since.

(This was on a closed track with nobody around.)

Did your cel come on? Mine did that at about 100. Mine was just a throttle positioning sensor though.

your lucky your not dead. i bet you overheated, and pcm shut you down, there is a switch for that.

I've had my engine die for odd reasons before. I really wouldn't worry about it. These cars are goofy.

 

mine shut off at 120 once, i noticed my knee hit the key and turned it off, could you have done that?

 

I didn't hit the key at all. No CEL either. I assumed that because I was still in gear letting the motor slow the car, it was starved for fuel, so it shut off. It was at ~5000 RPMs.

I sold the Camaro to try something a little different. It's easy to go fast in an F-body. A little more challanging to do it in a FWD 4 banger.

 

a little more is an understatement. on top of that, you picked a supercharged fwd 4 cyl. Well, you an me both. It was easy to go fast in my dsm too.

 

What's wrong with cheap and easy speed? You always went to Fwd.
