Well reputation...I'll just put it this way. Exedy makes the stock clutches but they also made the clutch for the Time Attack Cobalt SS AND they are in ties with GM right now for bigger and better things. Here is what I posted on the redline forums:
Hey guys, I just got off the phone with Matt from coximport.com...AWESOME GUY!
First of all...he is a Exedy clutch dealer. So...I gave him a call and this is what I found out:
Stage 1 and 2 are definitely available!
Stage 1 is 60% gain and it only $386...seriously WTF!? We don't have anything remotely priced like that for our cars yet. That includes the clutch, bearing, everything. It is an organic clutch and he had it on his EVO VIII and its still holding strong and his EVO runs 12.2 @ 113.
Stage 2 is 110% increase from stock and is $484 and it is a metallic clutch. This one is rated around 350whp.
Their phone is 1-800-470-6511

I don't have any pictures and that IS what the price is. They haven't been announced to the public yet that they are even available but I got curious and called that www.coximport.com and it is what Matt Gold from there quoted me on prices and what the handle and everything else. I am waiting to find out from him about a flywheel and if the slave cylinder comes with it also.
Yeah, I have heard the same. Some of the RL guys go through all that I'm surprised they haven't really screwed up their transmissions. The guy from revitup.com with the RL has gone through THREE Spec Stage 2+ clutches!
Well crap...the guy gave me the wrong info. They have a Stage 3 that will be available in August. It is the Hypersingle clutch and will include the flywheel and everything you will need, including slave cylinder for $800. Still good price for the clutch and flywheel. The Stage 3 is what is being used in the Time Attack Cobalt. The info I had was for the 2.2s. BLAST!
It allows you to hold more power....Basically if you are pushing 250 whp or more on our stock clutch/slave cylinder, and you drive spiritly a lot....Say goodbye to your clutch unless you beef it up.
Damn vandy, you're killing me here. $800 for both clutch and flywheel isn't bad.....Does that mean it will be about $500 for the stage 3 clutch? Just the clutch is what I mean.
