Exhaust leak affecting AFR/ Wideband?

Sooo I got some new headers put on and needless to say there is a leak at the gasket between the downpipe and header. Anyway today I noticed that my Wideband was pretty much stuck at around 14.7-14.8 even at WOT. It has never done this before. I am catless, and parts have less that 2000 miles on them. I was wondering if this leak could be affecting the AFR or the wideband gauge.

a leak can skew the reading of the wideband

from my own experience, a leak from the header/downpipe will throw the reading off by like 1-3 points

but at WOT it would read like 12s instead of 11s

i have the AEM wb

Bump, but would an exhaust leak cause the AFR reading to stay at that even under WOT??

It might be a bad connection on the ground or power wires of ur gauge

It didn't start doing this until the badmab was put on. I was thinking it had to do with me not being tuned for a 3" header or the leak between the header/dp. But as stated it is like stuck. I mean it will move from 14.7-14.8 and thats about it. And even at WOT it still reads 14.7. This pisses me off. Nothing seems to be right with this car. I have the AEM wb as well

Did you re-tighten the bolts on the header and downpipe after a few heat cycles??

9 times outta 10 people that claim exhaust leaks never re-tighten the bolts after running the car a few times.

I double checked the power and ground. Both seem to be good. So I think I have to narrow it to the leak between the header and DP. I still dont know how it would cause things to stay at around 14.7-14.8 though. No idea.Im lost. If its not the leak ill be a little mad because this gauge is almost brand new. What did you all ground your widebands to?

i ground mine to the bolt to the right of the fuse box i think it was already being used as a ground so i just loosend it and stuck the wire under and tightend back up

FML still got the issue. I think my car is cursed... hopefully going to get the exhaust leak fixed here soon. Just need to get some ramps and should be good to work on it. I hope the leak is it. If not I am driving my car off the nearest cliff if anyone wants to chase it down for parts.

test your o2 sensor, youtube how to test your wideband, AEM has a excellent video. It you had a leak, It would be rich or lean but not a perfect 14.7

Well it worked perfectly fine before the header was put on. I don't get it. It was fine and never gave me any trouble then all the sudden after the header, BAM it starts screwing up. Idk, ill figure it out. It really is one thing after another with this car...

thats part of modding man. but i was the one that put the header on. the header was nice and tight. we tried for damn near 3 hours to get the 3 collector bolts tight as hell but the leak wouldn't stop no matter what. tried a zzp gasket didn't work tried the badmab gasket still didn't work. it's leaking like crazy on the bottom of the collector and i really don't know why because on the stock header to the catless downpipe it was fine.

Seems like everyone including myself has issues with leaking collectors. Royal pain in the ass dealing with it too.

not a chance as the o2 sensor for the wideband is the downstream sensor in the downpipe. it wasn't even involved in the install.
