theres a good video i found of the magnaflow exhaust from Mandrelexhaustsystems.com
But he put a resinator in. They don't come with resinators from them. I went with the Borla muffler. And will be putting a resinator in.

If I'm replacing the entire exhaust system, where do I start upgrading?

I saw the GMPP 2.5" but it wasn't loud enough for my tastes. I'm kinda on a budget but if I can find out whats the good and bad, I can start building my loadout list for purchase.

**EDIT**

FML, I didn't realize this was the LSJ performance forums, I thought this was on the LE5 (2.4L SS/NA) forums...

GMPP catbacks are 2.25" not 2.5"

How much power can these cars make until you max out the 2.5" cat backs?

The quick and dirty answer is that you are fine with 2.5 if you are making less than 300 HP.

There is no proof what the cut off is, but you can bet a 2.5" catback will flow well enough to support up to 300whp, or better.

Look at the SS/TC's. Most make over 300whp while still running the stock catback which is 2.5".

So if my ultimate goal is over 300whp I should just go with a 3" cat back. Thanks for the info guys.

Speaking very generally. Just keep in mind that even if you are a higher power level, odds are you aren't leaving that much power on the table if you are using a 2.5" exhaust. There a bigger gains to be had so the rational thing to do is other mods first.

as far as deciding to run a long tube or a shorty, depends on where you want your power to be made. long tube will provide more power down low in the rpm band, and the shorty will keep the power up towards your redline like stock(but will flow better).

either way, you will want a 3" DP, and more often then not a 2.5" catback will flow plenty for you

Yes I understand that. The 3" exhaust will not be my first purchase. But I wanted to figure out power levels each exhaust could handle compared to my goal WHP levels so i'm not buying an exhaust twice.
