on saterday i had a flowmaster race muffler put on my ss and today i was in 2nd gear and just before i went to shift to 3rd it cut out like i hit red line than my rpm guage quit working and it lost all power in the engine i pulled over and shut it off about 5min later i started it back up and she ran fine i guess my question is would the muffler have anything to do with this (like not enough back presher or somthing) any info will help thanks by the way it was a flowmaster delta force one chamber race muffler you can look it up on summit racing it part# flo-325108

 

so does anybody have any info i dont know much about forced induction engines so if it is a dumb question just let me know thanks

 

Did you lose complete power to the engine or did you still have enough to drive the car but at very low speeds and RPMs? If there was still a little power there your car went into limp mode...if there was none I'm not real sure what's going on. I can't imagine a muffler, especially a flowmaster, could cause any problems with the engine since increased flow means it's not working as hard to move the exhaust gases. You could maybe take it to your dealer and tell them what happened and see if they have any idea, just don't mention the muffler and maybe they won't notice it right away !

it still had enough to drive i put the stock muffler back on it also the daeler would of heard it a mile away it was very loud well i dont think it was the muffler but the lack of back preshur it had i dident know if these engines needed a set amount of it or what seincs it was a one chamber race muffler it dident have much but it is at the dealers now geting brakes so i am haveing them check it out
