Weld in a 2.5 resonator (or glasspack) in place of the OEM resonator (only has a 2 1/16" inlet/outlet) and order an over the axle pipe with the magnaflow muffler from CTI. You'll have less than $300 in it and have a full 2.5" cat-back.

If you keep the cat, you may be able to have a decent sounding exhaust, keep that in mind. Ive yet to hear anyone without a cat not sound raspy...

someone please prove me wrong!

The inlet is 2 1/16", but the outlet is 2.5". Not that it matter though, because it is still restrictive.

Your best choice is to either go through mandrelexhaustsystems or go to an exhaust shop. Any exhaust shop will be able to easily look at your system and create you a 3inch exhaust. Just make sure they have a mandrel bending machine, if not just walk out and find another one or call around. This will save you A LOT of money and you can watch them do it .

As for the muffler use a dynomax super turbo, the big one 27 inch's long and your car will be SUPER quiet and sound VERY aggressive!

Erick161 - I have no rasp, I can hear the tvs scream after 4k rpms, and shes dead quiet at idle to 3500 give or take. There is just a really low deep rumble while cruising at 70 at 3k rpms.

im running a zzp longtube header catless to a 2.5" exhaust with a big magnaflow resonator, and a magnaflow muffler.. sounds great. no rasp. I got the cat back, in stainless, mandrel bent from a local shop with resonator and muffler, v-banded for like $250 installed and everything.

Erick161 - I am catless on a full 3inch system and it really sounds amazing. It's pretty fresh on the car right now but even after it "burns in" it will still sound great!

this must be it but seems expensive Dynomax Performance 17156 - Dynomax VT Mufflers - Overview - SummitRacing.com

overall is a 2.5 Cat back better than just replacing the resonator and muffler?

If it can quite down a catless setup, I would say its worth the 100 bucks, you know?

****edit that cant be it, he said its over length was 27in, that one is only 14in.

Don't go with a VT muffler, go with a dyno max super turbo regular square muffler. Something like these.

2.500 in. - 2.500 in. - Mufflers - SummitRacing.com

Those are 2.5 inch, you can search for 3 inch also. They should be 27 inches long.
