Exhaust smell(zzp header and downpipe catless)

Ive had my header on now for 2 months. An i still get a bit of a soft burning smell coming from the car. I really cant tell if it comes from under the car or from under the hood. Im pretty sure i dont have an exhaust leak on the header since i dont hear your typical tick tick tick sound from a leaking header. Now honestly i never put the heat shield back on after the install since it was driving me crazy to get it back on. Could that have something to do with it. This smell is really driving me nuts.

well if you have a catless down pipe that smell is all the emissions escaping. the cat is there to heat up the air coming out of the engine and to burn off extra fumes coming out into the air so say yousr engine is pushing out air at 300 degrees and it hits the cat it now heats up even more lets say 400 degrees to burn all the emissions up so when you take that out its pure emissions your smelling what a car should smell like go to any track and tell me you don't smell the same thing.

any car with no cat will smell like that and since our cars run rich to begin with we really notice it...question tho do you guys have trouble passing emissions where your at..if you have emissions?

I have had mine on for a couple months also, but I have only put a few hundred miles on it and it still has a burning smell. I just assumed its the ceramic coating.
