exhaust, yeah another exhaust thread. sorry

so my megan catback was alot of fun when i got it but im just not feeling it anymore. also, i finally got my hpt and i want to run a catless downpipe so bad. and i need to get a bung for my wideband.

so i figured that i would get a catless 3 in downpipe from zzp and badmab shorty headers then have a shop weld up a 3 in dynomax super turbo side exit exaust and possibly a magnaflow resonator.

so my question is, would that be considerably quieter than my current setup or should i just give up this idea? i want side exit sooooo bad, even if it sounds a little crappy. any input is appreciated. i have an ss sc btw.

The superturbo does a decent job quieting things down. But you running catless would negate that.

You gotta remember that stainless equipment flows smoother and looks better, but cannot suppress exhaust noise as well as your cast iron header and stock exhaust equipment. It's going to be louder, but tolerable to say the least.

well, the resonator is going to help with unwanted noise more than just the loudness of it. It gets rid of the reversions or resonance that you hear about 3k in the rev range. Or at least it should.

another muffler, even a small one, will help lower the loudness of the exhaust.

so if it's raspy, get a resonator
if it's loud get another muffler to run in series.

It's present in almost every exhaust on the lsj. I have a resonator (aftermarket) and two mufflers in my exhaust. It's almost unnoticed in regular driving now.

A little money and the right parts go a long way.

Another way to do it is put a resenator on the catless dp then another inline somewhere in the piping and the the muffler your talking about,it's about the same thing Danew mentioned above.
