well, we both are trying to make the same argument then. from an 40mph or above roll, traction isn't much of an issue in a cobalt unless you are pumping some mad power on some shitty tires. He has stage 2, bolt ons, and Nitto DR's. So no traction problems for him. I'm stock, so I would be at a big disadvantage from a stop, but from a roll, we eliminate traction issues and it's mainly all about power. we only shifted once, that was into 4th gear and he didn't mess his shift up nor did I. So My whole point in this, which I think has been your point too, is that I "may" have a factory freak. But I'll get some numbers on paper and we'll go from there. BTW, I didn't beat him, he was still like a bumper ahead of me, But I was pulling back. We both let out though. He technically gets the win though. but not anywhere near as much as he should have.

I will apologize cause I misread the original post, I thought you said you beat him by a car not vice versa.

I understand what you're saying but understand that a stage 2 is a decent upgrade but it's not like you're getting a 50 whp jump from it. He's not creating much more air than you. So losing a car at that speed is understandable and not really freakish.

I thought he should get close to 50whp since he has stage 2 with i/h/e. maybe I'm wrong. It sounds like stage 2 isn't worth the money then.

is your buddy w/ stage 2has 16"DR'swouldnt that give hima huge disadvantage from an 80 roll race. bc of the smaller tires.

you ever think maybe your friend is a bad driver? switch cars, then do the same race again.
i'm pretty sure i would easily walk you if u came to nj. not trying to be a dick, just saying that maybe its not a freak. 14.4 isn't a freakish timeslip for these.. i ran a 14.5 bone stock (plus extra weight from my 360 that i had just bought) . maybe if you ran a 14.1 or 14.0 stock you would have one.

i'm actually curious about your trap speed though. i was trapping 97-98 mph stock.. for me to consider your car a freak, i would have to see a slip that said you trapped 100+mph

I'lll go out on a limb here confirm that one. Ready for a second go around? I'm more than ready this time!

where the hell would you get that a stage 2 would gain 50WHP ???????????

And people ONLY get S2 because its "covered under warranty" most people that get S2 end up modding more and realizing they wasted their money because the dealer doesn't warranty people doing stupid things and not taking ownership of the situation.

And you SHOULD race him from a stop..... MULTIPLE TIMES IN A ROW!!!!.... because with DRs and stock axles, it wont be long before he launches and the axles snap!

Has he changed to colder plugs? There is also a new reflash for Stage 2 that makes a big difference.

When OniMirage first got his GM Stage 2 he lost on a roll against Blown 4-banger when Blown only had intake and exhaust. Since then he has gone to one step colder copper plugs, Injen CAI and GMPP catback and has the latest reflash. He pulled hard against me last night and I have the Injen CAI and GMPP catback.

well if this isn't freakish....when i was stock i ran a 14.9, (shitty tires, spun through half of first) but i trapped 99mph...you might not consider it weird but i do...i should have atleast ran a 14.5 but it was my first time being to the track and i was still getting used to driving the SS...2nd run i was pulling on a modded WRX but then i missed third...still ran a 15.1 tho...but i need to get tuned...especially for whats coming in the next week....then ill post up some numbers

oh and im not the origional poster but with my mods now i see 13.5-14 pounds of boost and there is no clogged cat cus i just put a full 3 inch on about a month ago...

but ill go out on the limb to....from a 25 mph roll...i was dead even with a black SS with a 2.5 pulley, 60 lbers, intake, and catback...but i wasn't stock...just an intake and catback...

I'm the original poster and I'm pushing the stock 12-12.5 psi. I'm bone stock. I don't hit the 12psi till I'm getting over 5500 rpms too. It's just a stock ss. But my buddy should definitely have pulled me even with 16" rims. I mean, he has gm stage 2(smaller pulley, bigger injectors, reflash) CAI, Header, and a full exhaust. I just found it really odd that we were side by side.

I would definitely say that trapping 99 or higher means you have a factory freak. You are putting a little bit more to the wheels that most other ss s/c's. Unfortunately I don't have a 1/4 mile track around here, the nearest one is 3 hours away. But I do have an 1/8 and if I trap over 80mph in the 1/8, I'm gonna go with the factory freak idea. although an 1/8 isn't really gonna measure the power as well as the quarter would. But I will dyno it and will see from there. just give me a couple of weeks to get this all done since I am in the military and finding time to do this and work and spend time with the wife and kids is next to impossible. lol.

btw, was up in north omaha yesterday helping my mother in law move into her new apartment, had 3 other guys riding with me going down the interstate. Saw an '06 mustang gt come off the on ramp. NOICE! Sounded mean as hell too! he gets up beside me and we bumped off. neither one of us pulled on the other. He had his girl riding with him. Pretty intense race since his stang was so loud. It almost busted our ear drums. lol. but he was really impressed with the 'bolt. he gave me a big thumbs up and said he was really surprised. Then he took off as I set the cruise and man that thing sounded mean. My friends were really surprised to that he didn't run off and leave me. They were like, "damn man, I thought you would get smoked, but you guys were side by side." I honestly didn't expect to hand with him either seeing as he wasn't even stock. but good run anyways.

keep this thread going. it's getting good.

I wouldn't really consider trapping 99+ a freak. I ran a 14.48 at 99.85 stock. That was only my 4th run ever at the track. I don't consider mine a factory freak at all.

This car gets most of its speed from second gear. You started in 3rd. Nuff said.

i agree some cars are factory freaks, my car is i believe. I dynoed 236WHP stock. I havent been to the track with it yet, but from the races ive had, i feel this car is a very low 14 second car. Not to mention my old car was a consistent 14.7 and this car feels much faster than it ever was.

Ill be going to the track on the 18th hopefully with stage 2 installed, ill post up some times.

I got my slips right here. 14.498 @99.86 2nd run at the track ever.

If someone his 102 bone stock I would say thats a little freaky.

I raced a just stage 2 'balt with mine in current trim and it kept right behind me. I also raced a stage 2 with 2.8 and it kept just behind me.

There are a lot of variables for example he may have a bunch of junk in his trunk, litteraly speaking.

Wow, our times and traps are almost exactly the same. 14.48 at 99.85.
