FAQ - Superchargers
I have an 07 ss sc, when i bought the car i asked if it had a block heater (like i do any other car) the sales guy said yes of course. Later i find out there is no block heater so i go back and tell them, they tell me that my car doesnt need a block heater and it will be just fine. This morning i get up it is about -22C outside and my car doesnt start. (i live in canada) So i call the dealership again and talk to another guy, he informs me NOT to get a block heater because it will wreck the supercharger. Is this true? He said something about how the block heater causes the oil to get warm and that is what will do the damage.
He instructed me to pick up a battery blanket and put that on it.
So now im talking to my friend who's taking some mechanic classes or something and i tell him and he says that they're pissing around with me; and that a block heater will not do anything to the supercharger.
Does anyone have any advice? should i or should i not put a block heater in my car!!!
Imo i'd think it would be better instead of just having a warm battery... isnt it hard on everything to start really cold? It gets to -40C where i live...

From what ive heard... the 07s come with a block heater...
this could be the non s/c... but its bad for the block to be subjected to high temps when its cold, because it will morph the block after a while.
Thats all i know about that subject, but it sounds like they are douching you around.

If anyone is interested in purchasing a polished supercharger, intake manifold, injen cai, jet performance mafs and stage 2 kit let me know. Im doing the Hahn turbo conversion. The car is a 07 SS S/C w/7000miles on it.
alright guys, i looked around for a bit and couldn't find anything of it, so here goes my question. what other sizes of a super charger can i put on my 06 SS/SC? i got the stock m62 (it's gone bad) and i need to replace it. i plan on rebuilding it, but in the mean time i need to get one in there. so i might as well upgrade right? if anyone knows anything or can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
please dont believe that about the warranty when you sign the papers on the car it voids that act as it have since 2001 you do anything to the engine its done warranty wise i worked at dealership and if you came in with a blown motor with a supercharger on it it does not matter if it was a bad gm part you changed what was under warranty by putting a non gm approved part on
I have a couple of questions that I would like to ask in terms of the pillar pod gauge..... I am trying to buy gauges for my bf for his cobalt ss 2006 and I saw him lookin at a website called ProSport... and i noticed that the gauges he was looking at were the Evo edition ones.... I wanted to know if there was another place or another brand I can buy good gauges from or what?

no torque is the force it take to spin a object which is what every engine does
Wow.. First off Torque is VERY IMPORTANT. Almost all engine dynamometer testing measures your engines torque at a given RPM. Horsepower is then calculated based on that number. (per SAE J1349.. which is how every engines power is tested)
Torque is a force and is what determines how much forward thrust (acceleration) the vehicle has. Very simply, in a given gear your vehicle accelerates fastest at its torque peak. Performance estimates can use either Power or Torque as long as you know the RPM!! Power is important in the fact it will allow you to utilize gearing to maximize the torque applied to the drive wheels.
Through any gear system (transmission or any other type of gear train) you mutiply and divide torque based on gear ratio.. but power remains constant (minus frictional losses)
