I just got back from GM and my car is going in Wensday for 2 TSB. 1. to fix my idle jumping problem and 2. the clutch slippage.

They told me they did 2 already and it wont be a problem. PLEASE GET THIS CHECKED OUT BEFORE YOU REPLACE YOUR CLUTCH.

1 is easy too. They just reflash your PCM and raise the idle to 900. I might get #2 looked at as well when I have some time.

There's one rule that almost all dealers follow. And that is MAKE MONEY! Money is not made on warranty work so any littel excuse that can pass something off as a warrnty void is gold for them.

Ok so not to get this off topic but just where do you see an adjustable area??? as what I'm getting is some times my clutch engages about mid way & other times it's at the top of the pedal?

I just feel it at times just to make sure I know where it is a the first time it did it I stalled the car & thought WTF & then I realized what it's doing.

I just got told today that they might not cover mine due to the tire wear, what's the number you called if you don't mind.

Umm, i have to say, i am a service writer at Kelley Chevrolet in Hallandale, FL. I check the list of new TSBs and PIs every few days for anything pertaining to my car, and i have not seen anything relating to a clutch problem. Wait for someone to release some real info, like a number or actual info, or just calm down a little. Like WOP said, there is nothing out yet.

Just called my dealership AGAIN for you guys. Talked to my service advisor, and he said the info was a specific memo passed along that the tech had recieved from GM after calling them about my problem. The reason for no paperwork on my car is that the tech left work early due to an emergency call( I can vouch for this as I know him and he was gone even before the time I was told I could pick up my car) and then left for his GM training. He gets back into town late tommorow and my service advisor told me he will probobly stop by to at least pick up his check. IF he comes by, my advisor said he will have him do the paperwork real quick, or at the very least find out EXACTLY what was done and will call me late tommorow with the info. Otherwise, he has to wait until monday when he actually comes back to start work.

So there, I hope this helps at least a smidge. If not, sorry, but i'm done harassing my dealership at least until monday. I will still update this thread tommorow as to whether I got a call or not, and of course on Monday at the latest when we get this thing squared away completely for sure. To everyone who has been patient through this with me, thank you. To everyone else, i'm just trying to help, if I'm not doing a good enough job you're more than welcome to take the reigns.
Thanks for the update. I know the more mature posters here, appreciate you doing some leg work for us. If it turns out there isn't a TSB on this matter atleast we know what helped your car out and then we can try it on ours. It sounds much simpler then a new clutch. Keep us updated when you get a chance.

The dealer doesn't lose money as GM pays them for the work.

Bump^ any thing new?
Iv been working on this problem for some time now. Including spending hours on the phone with GM and dealerships.

I have a sort of fix Im testing right now.

It has nothing to do with the car but the driver!!!!!!

As of now my clutch dose not slip 95% of the time. It was slipping 90% of the time so that a big improvment.

Ill post more on this later if this thread dosnt give a fix. But Im hoping it will and waiting for the info my self.

Later

WTF??? How can driver adjustment make up for a malfunctioning component of the clutch system? Perhaps you don't have the same problem some of us do...

I think hes reffering to the fact that there are a few slight things a driver can do that will actually cause clutch slip even if everything is working fine.

IE these cars have a very short first gear....which is very capable of breaking loose at ANY point in the rpms.

due to this fact ALOT of heavy launch shifting from first to second, results in a shift into second gear, when first gear hasnt properly been utilised.

Think of it this way.
say your car is geared to do X MPH at the top of 1st gear.
If you spin/hop heavily and your cars speedometer reaches X MPH, you will shift to second. but unfortunately your car isnt really doing X MPH (relative to the ground)
because of the wheelspinning.
and then all of a sudden when you let your clutch out and pour 200+hp at the car in 2nd, almost any clutch will have trouble because its like trying to launch in 3rd gear.

this is a driver adjustment that will definately help solve this issue.

I honestly think about half of the people with clutch issues are experiencing this in full or partial effects.

the adjustment you make is a simple one.
Listen to your launches. get a bit of a chirp going....but make DAMN sure when you reach your redline in first gear your fully engaged with full traction.
you will find the shift to second feels a whole lot different.

Some fixes are handled by techline, so there wouldnt be a tsb. But if you take your car in and the tech goes that route this will probably get done.

I went to the track last night, had a lot of clutch slip.

Im stage 2 with intake/exhaust all gm, and I ran a best of 14.33, but another guy there ran 14.08 (his very last run of the night) lol, he was runnin about the same times as me, didn't mention any slip in his though, but I'm 95% sure mine is slipping.

I might go again tonight with a different group to re-test, as I didn't run much last night. First time at the track with stage 2, I couldn't hook up at all.

Hooking up by the time im done first gear Im finding almost impossible..

Last night my buddy and I were out late cruising and decided to get a little practice in launching my car on a dead straight backroad (paved). And 2/8 times it slipped horribly from 1-2. Both times I know I had traction and was not spinning the wheels at all. Looking forward to more info from Above6k
