If I remember correctly, in the gm build book the cobalt race cars (not drag cars) used a grand am or g6 master cylinder. Someone may want to try this, you can get the build guide online for free from gmtunersource.com.
No offense but I still think some of u guys are giving the car gas before you let off on the clutch causing it to slip and that is a very good way to ruin the clutch. I have 22k miles on my car and still on the stock clutch with no problems.. And i would call myself a free spirited driver and i believe the car calls for 32psi cold tire pressure.. check your driver side door
Hate to tell you guys, but the GRAND AM CUP (ST CLASS) RACING SERIES Cobalt... it uses the stock master cylinder... and the stock Clutch. The only thing they change about the transmission is the final drive, which doesn't help any of us. I'll check the whole Build Book and see what HP they recommend changing the clutch and/or Master Cylinder... Part Numbers... so on, so on.
Well, that guy got back to me. He said theres no TSB at the moment however he said something is being done about it right now.
To the guy who said people cant shift properly (a few posts up), the tech admitted there are problems with the clutches, and if not fixed, the clutches go QUICK. He said hell let me know when a fix is available though.

IE these cars have a very short first gear....which is very capable of breaking loose at ANY point in the rpms.
due to this fact ALOT of heavy launch shifting from first to second, results in a shift into second gear, when first gear hasnt properly been utilised.
Think of it this way.
say your car is geared to do X MPH at the top of 1st gear.
If you spin/hop heavily and your cars speedometer reaches X MPH, you will shift to second. but unfortunately your car isnt really doing X MPH (relative to the ground)
because of the wheelspinning.
and then all of a sudden when you let your clutch out and pour 200+hp at the car in 2nd, almost any clutch will have trouble because its like trying to launch in 3rd gear.
this is a driver adjustment that will definately help solve this issue.
I honestly think about half of the people with clutch issues are experiencing this in full or partial effects.
the adjustment you make is a simple one.
Listen to your launches. get a bit of a chirp going....but make DAMN sure when you reach your redline in first gear your fully engaged with full traction.
you will find the shift to second feels a whole lot different.
