Question first oil change today

this is my story with a couple of questions mixed in it, hope someone can help

i took my SS to a GM dealership to get my first oil change in it.. and of course im going to watch the whole thing becuase theres kids my age changing oil and i bet have never seen one of these yet.

anyways he puts in what i thought was 5 quarts but was indeed 4 1/2 because he said thats what these ecotecs take, well when he starts it and i heard something grind for a couple of seconds and then ran smooth.. man i was soo pissed off, i could have strangled that punk. well he puts in 5 quarts and checks the dipstick.. it was at the minumun level. and after reading the manual it said five quarts recommended, and i guess what im wondering if anyone has had their oil changed in your SS and how many quarts did you use? becuase im new to the forced induction type cars and know how picky they are when it comes to oil.

**also the guy pointed out to me that theres oil in my supercharger, like i said im knew to these supers and just kinda jumped into this car without reading up on much.. so now im doing some reasarch.. any imput or answers would be greatly appreciated..

thanks in advance

There's been arguments after arguments on this oil capacity. So I'm not even going to comment on that. Did they do a filter change as well?

But yes the blower has it's own self contained oil and never needs to be changed.

so i just belive that 6 quarts does it for me because the dipstick reads the center in the operating range.

and yeah i got my oil and filter changed in just the motor.

so when is the recommended times to change blower oil??

EDIT: so the blower oil never has to be changed is that what im reading right?

I just went through some of the same stuff. I called my dealer and they have to date not done an SS oil change. So I took it upon myself. I do remember some past forums discussing oil capacity. So I checked with Service Manager, he looked it up and the SS takes 6 quarts. The only reason I asked was because there was some speculation the the manual was wrong. Maybe someone else can either confirm or deny this. Did you put in a full synthetic. It's a must for me, but mostly personal preference.

The 06 manual says 6 quarts. Life goes on, and this thread is ancient history.

why do people say this...

the SUPERCHARGER OIL DOES NEED TO BE CHANGED...

just like the m45... m90 and m112

depending on what blower it is.. you change it from 30-50k
