so yesterday i called K&N to see if they had a fix for the K&N intake CEL that everybody is getting.
long story short they told me go disconnect my battery (again) for an hour, and open your hood to make sure that the sleeve (as shown here in step 19) is properly connected

i know it sounds stupid, but i went and checked mine, and pulled the intake tube all the way out (nearly to the pint where it was going to come off) and re-tightened the clamps. its so far been 5 days with no CEL and counting
just a heads up for anybody with the K&N typhoon

I have KN Typhoon CAI installed on my 2.0SC and no CEL. I unhooked the battery while installing, it runs not so great at first, for like the first 20 minutes driving. then it gets used to it.

 

if you just washed the filter, and didn't re-oil it, wouldn't the cel go away? i thought it was the oil hitting the MAFS that was causing the cel

 

no the code were getting is the "car running lean code", i know that its not oil on the MAF sensor because the code came on instantly after puttin the intake on. i HAVE heard that people are getting codes from the oil on the MAF but this cannot be the case for me at least

Still have no CEL? I havent had time to do this yet, its been crazy busy but plan on doing it soon.

 

Here is the real fix: reflash.

Reflash of an update? Or are you talking of the stage upgrade flashes?

 

I had the light as soon as I put on the K&N. It went of permanently since stage 2(1) reflash.

 

unfortunately it did come back on, but it seems to jump back and forth a lot more frequently. obviously the best thing to do is get either the stage kits, or some other injectors and a reflash.
Is there such thing as a reflash "update"?
i thought it was only for stage upgrades (reflashing)

 

here is what would happen to me when i had the CAI before stage 1:

The CEL would not come on unless I would be crusing in 5th doing 45-60MPH. Otherwise i never noticed it except when I would be in that area. The A/F ratio must be wack around there.

CEL has been gone permantly since Stage 1 Reflash

 

I actually got that fix about 3 months ago from K&N. Didn't work either. That's why I didn't pass it around to anyone. It was temporary. But, alas, no worries of it any more.
