Stage 1 w/ 2.8" or Stage 2

Can anyone tell me their opinions on whether to buy the stage 1 with a 2.8" pulley or go with the stage 2 and possibly buying a 2.8" pulley later. In other words does anyone plan on buying the stage 2 just so they can say they have a Stage 2 Cobalt SS. Also from what i understand our superchargers can handle a 2.8" pulley at 7K RPM's..am i right or wrong on that?

get the stage 2 you wont be disappointed and then maybe later on gm will be offering the 2.8 pulley since they made the hub interchangable. stage 2 pulls really good. and also from being around the forums people have put 2.6 pulleys on and not had any problems so i would say a 2.8 with the proper amount of fuel will be fine.

A good option would be to get the stage 1, ditch the pulley it comes with for a 2.8, you will be getting great gains from this, pretty much stage 2 gains i believe, correct me if iam wrong, what iam going to do is go with stage 1, and get the 2.8 hub for my billetflow pulley, and ditch the pulley the stage kit comes with, either choice is good one.

and how is it a good thing if your getting the same gains as a stage 2 when your running a .2MM smaller pulley?

Moral- Go with Stage 2...

stage 1 doesnt even come with a pulley but if you go with the stage 1 kit and a 2.8'' pulley later on it wont be the same as stage 2. stage 1 doesnt come with a new s.c pulley or an underdrive pulley, so if you were to go with stage 1 and a new smaller pulley, the hp numbers would be the same (around), but not the torque numbers. the underdrive pulley is what gives you the torque. so if you went with a stage 1 kit with the 2.8 you would prob be boosting higher than stage 2 caues the pulley is smaller (obviously) and also something that most ppl dont take into consideration, the fact that the underdrive pulley tends to slow boost down so you would prob run about 2psi lower with stage 2 than stage 1 with 2.8. Underdrive pully? what the hell are you talking about?? The GM stage 2 kit is a hub, pulley, and belt....thats it. If you were to put an underdrive pulley on the crank, you would be making less boost and less torque than stage 1 with a 2.8 and less torque than stage 2....because an underdrive pulley....UNDERDRIVES the accessories...including the blower.

so in short what your saying is, go stage 1 with the 2.8 pully, or even a 2.6 pully because the stage 1 comes with injectors flash ect... but how much differant is the stage 1 flash from the stage 2 flash?

It's not bad, you just have to compensate with a smaller S/C pulley, but the other accesoriess will still be under driven.
