FMIC on SS/SC... interest in manifold allow it?
I agree with the few others who think 3in is to much. That is going to kill throttle response big time I think. Really 2.5in is also probably a little to big. You want the air velocity to stay high to keep the throttle response good. If you put a huge diameter pipe in, volume will go up at the cost of velocity. You want to find the happy medium.
A very nice chargecooler design:

And they offer various core sizes. An idea??
Oh yeah, remember the Lotus M62 supercharged engine pictured before? This is how they replace the inefficient intercooler for high HP applications:

Yeah... that's another thing... anyone who wants to switch over to a canister style water to air intercooler... this manifold would make that switch very easy.
Thanks for bringing that up....
Edit:
Or... a water to air like this one...
There is a nice write up here http://www.advancedvehicletuning.co.uk/avtpwr.htm why certain box-type chargecoolers like that one above are not ideal. But off course they also want to promote their own design...
(Look to their gallery. Some serious applications there!!)
Such box type chargecooler could be modified with an plate to mount directly onto the SC...
I was also looking into the Vortech power cooler, but I think there are numerous good chargecoolers out there. Now a good & cheap one...

Yeah... they do exagerate a bit.. .
7psi loss...
I've used a few box type ones on older all-trac Celica's, and I've only noticed a maximum of 2.5 psi loss... very comparable to an air to air design.
Ultimately, I'd like to keep the options open to the end user.
The more people we have trying different things, the more we can grow, and explore new possibilities.

Yup.
Only problem is that I live in The Netherlands, and there are very few LSJ's over here. Let alone cheap engine parts to hack up and modify... But we do have the 2.0 LNF and the Saab 9.3 turbo engines.
(Was just looking to all these chargecooler set-up's in their gallery. I like this one more and more! And I saw some pretty manifold designs which I maybe can use as a donor part for the LSJ)

Since you bumped it... I think I owe everyone an explanation....
I was designing an entirely new manifold that would utilize the OEM laminova cores.... I had a thread about it.
I deleted the thread due to the fact that after finding a suitable design I found that the build cost would be well over $500 for outsourced materials alone.... factor in built time, and wear on my machines, and the retail cost is touching $1000.... way too much for my liking.
So.... I decided to pursue this route again. A manifold that will allow us to run;
a) an air to air FMIC
b) a Vortech style water to air charge cooler
c) any other hair brained thing you can think of that hooks up via 2.5-3" pipe outlets
To let everyone know, this design would also allow for customization in the internals, due to the large working area available.
More details to follow.
