Gas

So just wondering. Has anyone "experimented" with anything less than 91 octane?

Do not do it..

The car really needs 91 or better due to the added compression of the SC.

i use 87 all the time... the manual says u dont need n e thing better than that... obviously my car isnt performing as well while its running on 87 octane fuel but since the manual says that, if something goes wrong and i can blame it on the gas im suein somebody...

You just lose power and timing. Up to 11 degrees on the top end 15 vs 4

17.8, that really sucks. When I am pounding on my car, I get 28 ish. 32 -34 when driving normal. I usually use 93 octane, but with the computer controls, you can use less and like it was said before, your performance will fall off some. With stage 2, you really need to run the premium because of the higher boost, higher red line, and hotter running temps.

Hey we're getting the same gas mileage

(In general to anyone using less than 91)
Putting anything less than 91 in a performance car is dumb, if you don't want the performance then why did you buy exactly that?

Yeah i'll be putting the better fuel in my car from now on. I asked the dealer and he said it didn't matter. I didn't think he really knew what he was talking about though lol. I get on it a littlee but try not to and my mpg just keeps slippinggg!! damn it lol

Hi 06Laser -

The first time I filled it up I put 87 in it - accidentally...

It did not seem to run any worse, but I was not running it very hard (it only had 300 miles on it....).

I use Shell 93 or Phillips 92 depending on where I am at when it needs filled.

Stock you can run the cheap gas, but like has been mentioned, the computer will pull back on the tune to compensate - but can you tell on the road and not on a timed track? I don't know if I could to be honest.

best regards -
