Post Gas quality choice for a 07 LT 2.2L

This may sound like a very stupid question but I still want to know 100%...

Does it make ANY difference on a 06-07 LS/LT (2.2L) Cobalt as for the type of gas you put in? (87, 89 91 or even 94)

I'm figuring that even if it did a small difference, I'd pay the difference but if really, there is NOTHING more for those engine, I could save money...

Thanks in advance for answering this maybe stupid question!

you should use the type of gas based on how you going to drive it...
Say you drive a lot to work or school what ever you should use the cheapest if you prefer
But if you plan on racing and things of that nature then go big 100
you should base it on how you drive it and what your going to use it for thats my opion but someone may have a better one

I usually put 89 in it, and every once and a while i'll put 91 in it to give it a little clean out. You should be fine with 89. I try not to put 87 in since I use it mainly for my lawn mower ... lol

87 is perfectly fine...since your n/a you don't really have to worry about detonation. Higher octane doesn't give you more power, it allows you to run more boost, more timing and spark advance to create more power. In stock forum...87 is fine on a n/a.

Octane isn't very important for the 2.2. Instead worry about the quality of gas. Shell has one of the best gasolines out there although usually the most expensive. BP has a good ultimate as well. Try to stay away from walmart gasoline.

One more thing. Try to stay consistant. Mixing this brand gasoline with that brand gasoline isn't a good idea. Try to stick to one brand whether it be BP, Shell, Amoco etc... Your engine will run longer. And like anything, you get what you put into it. If you think you have a cheap motor use cheap gas. Again try to stick to one brand.

just stick with the recommended octane level which should be 87 and use a quality gas from a top tier provider

isn't it bad to run over 87 or 89... unless you have a tune for higher octane..

Just use top tier 87 or 89, any higher is useless for you.

using any higher on a 2.2 unless your pretty heavily modded wont really help you.
the 2.2 is built for econemy. its meant to use 87 fuel and use it very well.

i've noticed for some reason my 2.2 likes to complain to me when i use 87, its seems to like to sputter a bit with it, it could be completely in my head but i usually just shell out the extra 10 cents pr gallon and get 89 if for no other reason, to keep me happy, and my car has seen nothing but mobil gas
