exactly.

$535 for kit (with tax)

$380 for install (with tax) Took close to 3 hours...

I said, what if i take it home, install the injectors, then bring it back to you and have you re-flash it, he said it wouldnt be under warranty.

He also said that the new injecotrs would be dumping so much fuel the computer would flip out and go crazy !

I get to keep my full warranty with the car, so that's why I did it.

The tech was on the phone with the "whoever in wherever" {getting the download i guess?} for at least 30 minutes

Ouch. Sorry to hear that cost so much. 3 hours sounds a little bit excessive if you ask me!

Anyhow, totally agree with keeping the warranty. I would have done the same thing.

Not planning to at the moment. It is too expensive in Canada. Stage one is like $900 and stage II is $1250. Once you tack on labour, stage II is $1500. Gas is uber expensive right now, so if it stays the same, I won't be adding more power. I know this sounds lame because I drive an SS/SC, but payin $1.20/L for premium is nuts!

I also wan't to wait a few months and see if there are any issues or concerns as far as reliability with these kits. If they are problematic I will avoid them, warranty or not. This car is my daily driver for all four seasons, so I need it up and running at all times.

My car is also brand new (1,100 kms). Stock should keep me satisfied for the summer. I don't need the speeding tickets either!

it raised the rev limiter 200 rpms? like to around 6750? i wonder if the reflashes are different since everyone with stage 2 claims it's a 7k redline.

also... you got raped on that price. i can get a stage 2 for 600 bucks plus about 130 bucks for installation. it took them 3 hours to install? isn't the list for stage 2 1.5 hrs... shouldn't stage 1 be less than that? they can't charge you 3 hours on install just cuz they suck and were slow, they have to charge you what the book install time is. you got effed in the A.

edit: where in florida are you? i know a dealer selling stage 2 for 590 bucks and stage 1 for 3 something.

that could've been a dealr package(compiled of various aftermarket parts). they do that at times... but the gm intake has not been released and i'm not sure if they are releasing a suspension. IF something like that was only $1300 i would be all over it, because the thicker aftercooler, intake and suspension would be worth far beyond $550

GM Stage 2 Reflash Only?

I've got the Intense kit with 42.5 lb/h injectors and was wondering if I'd be able to get the just the GM stage 2 reflash? I called my dealer with the part number listed in the other thread that I can't find now. They told me they would flash it for $39.99 but they couldn't tell me for sure if the part number was good untill I get there next Wednesday. Anyone know if I'm just wasting my time by going?

I checked with GM and Stage 1 has a standard install of 1 hr. Stage 2 has a standard install of 1.5 hours. Tell you dealer to call the PARTEC line for confirmation.

What has your gas mileage turned into

I am a college student and i want to be able to mess around but i need decent gas mileage as well. What are the numbers you guys are getting?

Thanks
Brett
Talked to a person at GM that has been driving one for a while. He calls himself an enthuiastic driver and he is getting 1 mpg better with the stage 2. I was told the official EPA mileage was slightly better but not enough to change the numbers reported to EPA.

However, If you use the added power you will burn more gas.

Nope...this would be next to impossible to have done considering that the dealers have to go thru GM to get each individual reflash. This is why GM issues codes with every kit...you need your own code in order to get the reflash The only way i see it being done is if a GM tech somehow redistributed the flash but that's highly unlikely considering it's an extreme no-no

there is no way they will be able to reflash your car for 39.99.... it just won't happen. I am sure GM thought of these things. You may be able to buy stage 1 and have the same reflash, but i doubt you can get just the reflash.

According to the build article, it took new valvle springs and forged pistons to spin it up that far. I also think it said they used a mechanical chain tensioner.

Standard Install Time

I checked and there is a standard install time of 1 hr on the stage 1 and 1.5 hrs on the stage 2. Your dealer can call the PARTEC line to verify.

I guess my dealer is just as dumb as the rest. I'll have to cancel my appointment cuz I'm not gonna waste the one hour drive there since there's oviously no point cuz they will the a authorization code to even get the flash from GM.

My service manager said that if it says 1.5 he will only charge me 1.5 so I am hoping he has called the PARTEC line and if not I will ask him to. Money is better when I don't have to give it away.

I have stage 2 and my gas mileage dropped about 1mpg. That's probably because of the ol' testin her out. It all depends on how you drive it.

Yeah I would like to have the reflash only as well. But like R_Florida said, the only way you could get just the stage 2 reflash is if they redistributed a reflash that another customer has had which I'm guessing would be illegal and could get you into a lot of trouble. I just hope to get the stage 1 for a real good price though. I'm hoping maybe $350-$400 installed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I hate when people complain or worry about the drop in gas mileage when modding a car. It's going to drop!!!! The only way it wouldn't drop is if you drove it normally every day. But then when you look at it, if you drive it normally every day without being hard on the gas, why would you even bother in getting the part that you want to get???? It's going to drop. However, adding one part is not going to drop your mileage by 8-10 mpg (unless there's something wrong). You have to pay to play.

Stage1/2 Question

Would someone mind giving me the basics on exactly what the Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrades do? I'm aware of the performance increase, however I don't know how much of an increase. I'd also like to know what's changed to produce these results.

I'm definitely not at a mechanically inclined as most people here; but I definitely have an interest and want to learn as much as possible. Thanks!

Scott
