I'm hoping you're getting the stage 1 kit too then? You're going to need the larger injectors.

The injectors that come with the Stage 2 kit are not large enough?

For those of you wondering how I got my kit....here's the story...

So, I, like ~100 or so others, put in an order at CrateEngineDepot like mid-April. I started getting anxious last week, so I started calling local dealers to see if someone was using one as a booster seat. Sure enough, found one from LA area, had it shipped to my dealer, wham, bam, thank you ma'am.... O, and I should be getting out with Part/Install cost at ~850 max. That could come down if they get through it quickly (i.e. depending on how long GM puts 'em on hold).

So anyway, the lesson here is: "call around."

your gonna love it. I have just the stage 2 on my Cobalt and I love it. Sounds like you got a good deal too. I paid 788 installed through a dealer and I got mine the same way you got yours. My dealer got my kit from a dealer in SC an I had it installed 3 days after I ordered last week.

Wow...go easy on him. Just because he sells parts doesn't mean he has to know the entire car inside out. His specialty is suspension and torque dampening parts, yes? And from the posts I've seen, he's very well informed about them. If he doesn't know about the stage kits in detail, well that doesn't take away any of his knowledge from what he actually sells.

My mistake...I was thinking the stage 1 to 2 kit. I read the kit details wrong when I checked them out.

I do know about the stage kits I just made a mistake. It happens. I research everything I possibly can about the cars I own. In fact I've got the stage 1 on my car and purchased a billetflow pulley to up it to stage 2.

I just thought I read that it came with the reflash and a smaller belt and a pulley. I checked again and it stated it included stage 1 plus that stuff. So my bad.

And sir, if you want to pay twice the price for the same parts elsewhere you're certainly welcome to

Do you have to get the stage kits installed by the dealer to have it covered under warranty? I'm assuming so, but hoping not.

I don't trust my local dealer to work on my cars, and they mark up their prices on parts about 3x more than other dealers.

for the most part, they have to do everything in order for you to retain your warranty.

my dealer is the same way. im traveling up to Denver, Colorado when I order mine. the mechanics at the local dealer here are asshats with wrenches and they overcharge frequently.

From what I've heard GM was offering the 12 mos/12k to people who installed themselves (provided they didn't screw anything up during the install.)

With the magnuson moss warranty act though I would be surprised if you didn't have a good case for warranty coverage unless one of the parts you installed failed.

Dealers can blow that smoke all day if they want, but here if you don't like what one tells you, go on to the next. You eventually make friends and then it's easy to get stuff handled.

If the dealer installs it, then you get to keep the original 5yr/60000 mile warranty, correct?

Unless you have some special extended warranty, then you only have 3yr/36,000mi

Basic warranty is 36 months or 36,000 miles. Powertrain is 60 months or 60,000 miles.

Would you be able to provide proof of that? If so, I stand corrected.

Update!!!

BUMPity bump bump....

The kit is installed!!! (~$900 part + install - more than their estimate because it was the first time they did one)

Overall, this was a GREAT decision. I'm sure I'll be echoing the sentiments of others on the board, but anyway....

My gas mileage is BETTER with GM stage 2 (even with my laying on it pretty hard to "test it out") Boost is a hair over 15 psi at the limiter (according to my wife from the passenger seat). Boost holds at ~12-13 during the majority of the 3000-5500 powerband. Downshifting from 5th to 4th gear to pass on the highway is pointless now. It doesn't take much pedal pushing to go from 75 to 100 mph on the highway, so heed my warning if your local cops are dicks too! Shifting is smoother and every gear is less hesitant (no bogging) at low/moderate rpms.

To those of you who are patiently, yet anxiously waiting for the GM kits, you will NOT be disappointed!!

Oh yeah...my untainted warranty is the best part!!!

Next step...K&N drop-in.
