tell him to get an intake and catback after the stage2. i've personally seen a stage2 car do 220s/210s with no other mods. and then 240/somethin with intake, downpipe, and catback.

the 2 cobalts i seen that had nothing but gm stage 2 did 210-220whp. And 210 is pretty far from stock...with drivetrain loss a stock balt puts down around 190whp.

lol how long did you have a balt dude? you should know they dyno stock around 205-210whp. but every dyno reads different so no point in arguing you saw 190

Had my balt for almost 2 years. Got bored of it once i swaped to the TVS and sold it. Yes every dyno reads different due to many reasons. Altitude being one of them. People in canada will read lower then people in the southern states. So when Dezzie dynos his car with the gm S2 he will read lower then what you see where your from. I use to live in the same town as the OP so i know how the dynos read. And I highly doubt you seen a stock cobalt hit 205-210 whp...considering its rated to 205 to the crank. If you have i want to see the dyno sheet. My 370z is 332BHP stock. High dyno reading i seen from people on the 370z forums are hitting 290whp and that was near sea level. I hit 280whp and thats with my intakes. So i would really like to see these balts you claim are hitting 205-210 stock. Not saying its impossible but i call bs until i see a dyno reading.

Well good job, however its still a invalid point. Like you and I both said, every dyno reads different. I use to live where the OP lives and i know there arent to many dynos around. And unless he is going to travel 2 hours out of his way he will be going to the same dyno i was on, many, many, many times. From my expeirence on the dyno and seeing what other cobalts dyno. The dyno shows an average of 20-30whp less of what the car is rated for. So once again...if his car is stock, which is rated to 205BHP...if he went to dyno now he will probably see between 180-190whp...with gm stage 2 he will probably see 210-220.

We can keep arguing about this until the cows turn purple. But the OP asked a question and i gave him the most accurate answer anyone can give on this forum. Why? Because i spent time on the dyno he will be going to, not only has my car been on the dyno with more then 40 pulls but i help set cars up and run cars on it, so i know how it reads.

they are underrated from the factory man. you have been around long enough that you should know that. 205bhp was rated at 5600rpm. the ss/sc makes power up until 6500rpm stock. most dyno 210-215whp on avg stock. i have seen as low as 190whp and as high as 225whp on stock car from my experience. they make more like 230bhp stock.

See, with the Injen intake (I will by dynoing today btw) I'm hoping for 220-222. (205 base, plus the 17 the injen is rated for) With statge 2 I'm hopinh to put down 250-260

Dammit - Dyno place just called (2 hours before we were scheduled) and had to reschedule for Fruday. This blows.

that 17 hp injen claims is bs. you will see about an 8 whp increase from the injen just like every other intake out there for the ss/sc. 205 bhp was the factory rating, but it's more like 230 bhp due to being underrated. you will prob see anywhere from 215-220 whp stock plus your injen intake. you will not see 250-260 with just stage 2 and a intake. you will prob see more like 235whp. open up the exhaust and you will be in the 240whp range.

But CED says GM Stage 2 brings it to 245hp. If you're saying the engine is over rated, than I can see 250 being a possibility with the intake.

That is the rating GM gave the Stage 2 kit. Actually on CED it is wrong. The Stage 2 kit is rated at 241 hp 218 lb-ft tq not 245 hp. Yeah, the production horsepower number is underrated, but not the Stage kits. Most that have dynoed a completely stock GM Stage 2 car (stock meaning no intake or exhaust mods) have put down 230-235 whp on average. With intake and exhaust mods you will be in the 240 whp range meaning anywhere from 240-250whp.

if you are sticking with GMPP parts only also get the extrude honed exhaust manifold. it flows better than the stocker. if not get a header and downpipe

+ebay muffler with 2.5" crushbent piping starting at just before the rear suspension

and no this isn't just a "high reading" dyno. this is what i did on a 2.8 and methanol
