Exclamation GM stage kits vs Intense

So Ive been doing some research on both the stage kits and intense kits. So far the stage kits are more expensive, but for an additional $300 you also get a fully backed GM product.

Not only that, but all Ive seen is nothing but problems with the Intense kit and people complaining about how it doesnt work right.

From this Ive concluded the following about the GM Stage kits vs Intense:

GM:____________________________Intense:
Warranty Backed_________________No Warranty
Fully Functional___________________Possible Problems
More Expensive___________________Less Expensive
CEL Fix With Reflash_______________CEL
Power Gains Huge(1+ sec off 1/4mi)___Power Gains Comparable/Less To Stage Kits
Coming In Late March______________Out Already
Help Support GM!!!_________________Help Support Intense

Sorry to everyone if I sound bias, but I feel the GM products are going to be much better. Not only that, but theyre GM!!!

They have a full warranty, and the reflash will fix the CEL problem associated with the CAI's!!!

Soooooo.......

-I give GM stage kits
-And the Intense kit

I WANT TO KNOW EVERYONES OPINION! FEEL FREE TO VOTE ABOVE!

your so bias!!!!!!!!!!! Intense has sold 100s of these kits and you only see like 2 or 3 problems here. Cmon man, plus, once intense cracks the PCM we will get the power the GM kits will never get close to. im talking about 30whp over what I have now.

The power gains are listed here: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l-lsj-performance-tech-47/stage-1-2-upgrades-part-s-7600/
^^keep in mind GM likes to under rate their specs ( ex: our SS's were originally rated at 0-60mph of 6.1 sec and 1/4mi of 14.9. Realistically however, most people have a 0-60 of 5.9-6 secs and a 1/4mi of 14.5-14.6 )

As for possible problems, who cares theyre warranteed!!!!

Gm is just another vendor here. So im not going to take thier numbers as an indicator of the numbers I will see when the kit is installed. I know Gm tends to underate the power in some of its cars, but that doesnt mean the stage kit will achieve the numbers they say it will.

I will be one of the first to find out though

I won't bash any of the vendors for this forum. I will point out something I noticed though. Intense and Rev-it-up kits trick the computers to increase the power. One deals with the MAF one the MAP I feel Rev-it-up is doing better). GM won't trick the computer, it alters it to achieve its goal. With that being said, initially the GM backed stage kits will be better. Once Intense and Rev-it-up figure out how to manipulate the GM tuning, they will in my opinion find more power. Which will work better....?? I don't know.
Now, if Intense or Rev-it-up want to correct my assessment of how their products work I won't feel bad.

I voted for the GM kits becuase of the fact that they have control of the computer. My vote would likely change if the other companies had the same control over the computer.

I'm not overly worried about the warranty because it will run out by this time next year anyway.

I dunno how you can give the thumbs up to something you haven't tried.

If you haven't used either the staged GM kit or the intense kit how can you make a fair comparison?

I'm happy to see that there are vendors out the supporting the SS and RL, at this point in time I'm very tempted at the Idea of the Intense package, but I'm willing to wait for warranty assurance from GM...

If GMPP Stage II is what it's cracked up to be, I'll be more than happy with that, although if they decide when they release it to not back the warranty, I will be looking elsewhere for power, because they made me wait so long to finally find out.

The one other thing that i like from the GM kit is the reflash will also be increasing the rev limiter to 7000

Instead of just bashing Intense maybe you could give them some props for their ingenuity. Of course no new aftermarket product is going to be perfect, but Intense did a fairly good job putting something together, the kit works well on my car. I don't bash people for waiting and waiting for the GM kit, its their decision. People like to support GM, including me, but maybe you should consider that Intense is trying to put products together for our car the best they can, and maybe not bash the vendors who make us parts please. Best of Luck to all whatever kit you choose!

im pretty sure its more like 6800 since valvesprings are only good to 7200 and im sure gm wants to keep some buffer.

Im going based off of the posts of problems associated with Intense, the GM 36,000mi warranty backed Stage 2 kit, and the GM printed specs on the Stage kits ( link is here:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7600 ).

Im not bashing Intense, Im just explaining my opinion based on information Ive gathered about each kit.

Bottom line, i'm with Ray here, if you're afraid to break it and or void the warranty, LEAVE IT STOCK!

Youre clutch is good to 300 horses, ALL STOCK INTERNALS are good to 300 horses. Besides that, anyone who pays $750 for the stage kits will probably upgrade their clutches eventually anyway (aka stage 2 clutch or higher). I know I want to get mine up to 350-400 horses, so Im going to upgrade the clutch ( along with many other parts ) before I reach that 300 horse mark.

On another point, no crap our clutches arent. Thats like saying our break pads arent warranteed.

I know I will not be going with GM for a fact...I have been seriously thinking about INTENSE, because their kit is plug and play and seems to have good gains. Also, INTENSE has not made any promises or any kind of statement that they will be coming out with anything else....

While Rev It Up has a nice kit with the SMT-6 and they live close to me, but I haven't heard great things from people who have the kit unlike people with the INTENSE kit. Also, Rev It Up is coming out with other stages and such in the future as stated....

That is even funnier yet!!! I can tell you 3 cobalts right away with 260-275HP and have WASTED thier stock clutches!

300hp I thought that once, then i woke up!
