Gmpp Cai 2.0 Ss?sc

I was at my local Gm dealer today. I saw in a 2007 accesory book that the 260hp Solstice has an optional GMPP CAI intake for purchase, as well as the CAI for the 2.2 that we already know about. WTF why can't they come out with a GMPP CAI for SS/SC's fpr those of us that like to keep our warranty. I have a number to GM engineering that I am calling tomorrow to ask them will keep you posted. I assume there are others out there that would like to know??????????????

I discussed this with Tom at Crateenginedepot recently. The GM engineers came up with a neat CF CAI for the SS/SC but they told Tom the cost would have been too high to make it marketable. The aftermarket CAIs would be so much cheaper ($) that they didn't feel they could sell enough of them to make a profit. I know I paid a lot more for my GMPP 2.2 CAI than I would have if I got an aftermarket CAI for the 2.2 -- but $60-$100 was worth it to me having a GM part. I think they said the GM SS/SC CF CAI would have been $200-300 more than an aftermarket CAI. Would you buy one if it cost around $500?

I have a K&N intake and took it to the dealer for a cel and they fixed the cel from my intake without saying a word. I don't think dealers care if you have an intake, all though I must admit a CF intake would look SICK!!!

Dealerships

You took a K&N intake put it on your car and went to the dealership? wow my local dealership said if they didn't order and install ANY performance part it would void my warrenty! And since im only the second guy to ever even ask they wont do any research on capatable systems. i going in tommorrow to show them the turbo tech web site hopefully they'll let me use the injen system they're selling. by the way I didn't see an actual GMPP exhuast or manifold for the cobalt ss /sc that everyone keeps telling me about on their website any one got a GMPP part number?

I know this may sound stupid but, the gmpp exhuast manifold and exhust system, how much of an improvement can i expect? I have an 07 ss sc but i cant find any specs to campare the stock GMPP and aftermarket to. and i don't want to spend a couple grand just to find out the stock parts dont have major restrictions (power and air flow wise). They're not like the SC upgrade kit where it says up front 36HP boost ya know.

The exhaust manifold is basically the stock one with ported exhaust openings and collector, I think it was 3-4 hp or something. I wouldn't buy one, and the stock exhaust is 2.5" where the GMPP is 2.25"

it is now against the law for them to void your warranty because an aftermarket part has been installed. if there is damage to your engine they have to prove that your part caused the damage in order to void coverage.

Haven't seen CIAZ before, i checked it out. most of the SS /SC owners live on the outskirts of the valley phoenix sits in. Mostly new developments or up scale neiborhoods.
they tend not to bother with common "middle class" folk like me. But i Thank you for the site adress anyway.

Go to (crateenginedepot.com) click on cobalt accessories. It's about 269.00 for the manifold. I have heard closer to 8 to 10 hp out of the manifold and touring exhaust. I know between the stage 2/exhaust manifold/touring exhaust. That I got alot of thump for my money. And as far as paying 500 bills for my CAI. The answer would be yes as long as it keeps my 100,000 mile warranty in play.

PS the CAI I'm using now is aftermarket. You can bet it will come back off if anything happens to the car. I'm not giving them any excuses to void my warranty.

It's simple gains for manifold and touring/performance exhaust are 8 to 10 hp. Go aftermarket on your header and exhaust and say adios to your new car warranty. It's the only reason I've kept it all GM.

PS call Tom at (crateenginedepot.com) he'll give you the skinny on all GMPP parts. As one person first told me. Stage 2 +Gm manifold+GM catback exhaust+2.8 pulley= Happiness

Sure what's a few hundred dollars among corporate giants. I still don't get them making one for the solstice and not the ss/sc.

Im An Idiot, Please Help?

OK i'm ticked off! I bought a injen intake from turbotech great deal $218 no tax or shipping cost for a full intake. Before i got it i knew i didn't have enough knowldge to install a full intake, (never removed body panels before), but the service department guys were all like sure let us install your performance parts to insure warrenty compliance, no problem. I got the thing 2 days quicker than expected called up my dealership and asked How much to have you install it. Afer a minute on hold i got "I'm sorry sir but GM policy is not to install any part that will alter the emmisions of the vehicle." WTF? They pushed the idea of the stage 2 suoercharger kit on me, Still saving for it. The have their own performance department, the recording when your on hold even say "don't have the tools , why not let our quality service technitions install it for you? Am i just the worlds biggest Iddiot or what? PLEASE,CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THOSE LITTLE PLASTIC CLIPS SO I CAN ATLEAST TRY TO INSTALL IT MYSELF?

So don't make the Carbon Fiber. Why would it have to Carbon Fiber??

GM should make an SS/SC CAI!

Or make both because I want a CF one! That would be bad ass in my engine bay!
