GMPP Stage II with 2.x inch pully ... tune or not

Hey all... Since there's not many places in Montreal for tuning the Cobalt, I've decided to start off my real modding with GM stage 2. Im going to order it real soon from Crate Engine Depot. If anyone ordered from them to Canada, how much was customs? Alright thing I wanna do is this... Install the stage 2 and then buy an aftermarket 2.8 or 2.9 inch pully. I know from the recalibration, the computer will be set for a 3 inch pully, so if I swap it for a smaller one, i know it won't run as good as it can... So my real question is, can i get another tune after the stage 2, and where or who can I get this tune from? (Somewhere in Canada close to Montreal plz lol) Or maybe... I mean I don't really care for waranty, so give me some opinions... I'm sure many of you will say to go with TAG in Toronto and get a stage kit with them lol...

If you dont care about the warrenty, dont waste money with GM Stage 2. If you go with Tag Stage 1, its cheaper, and better. Thats what I want to do with my tax return.

Plus, the Tag Stage 1 uses a 2.85 in pully (I think...)

tag stg1 is a 2.85in pulley 60lb injectors and everything else you need to install it. the advantage with the tag stg1 is that there is plenty of room to up grade and never have an issue with maxing out the injectors. the disadvantage with gm st2 and smaller pullies is that you should not run anything smaller than a 3.0 pulley. other wise regardless of what ppl on here say who have no idea what they are talking about. anything smaller that a 3.0 in pulley is to much for 42.5lb injectors at 7k rpms. the advantage to gm st2 is that you retain factory warranty and know one can create as safe of tune as the guys who build the car and write the programs for it at gm. although the tag stg1 tune is probably about as close as you can get to a perfect daily driven safe tune

also the factory stg2 tune is not setup for a 3.0in pulley its for a 3.099 basically 3.1in pulley.

hmmm nice... yea im going to go with TAG then :-) Thing is, I can afford the TAG Stage 2, but I don't wanna sacrifice reliability... and since I live in Montreal, can get really cold in winter and I use my cobalt all year round... Should I go with stage 2 with 2.6 inch pully or get stage 1 and a full exhaust, header, downpipe?

one other thing... with TAG stage 1 or stage 2... should I get the 2.5 inch exhaust or 3 inch?

i would say go with the tag stg1 is more what you are looking for

stg2 is more for someone who is looking to get very involved in there car. like solid mounts, clutch, axles dual pass endplate with a cobra heat exchanger and preferably with hp tuners. on top of the stg2

so i would say a tag stg1 with full exhaust would be more of what you are looking for. but realize with the kind of power a tag stg1 is going to make you need to pretty much eliminate wheel hop to keep your stock clutch and axles intact. and the stock clutch will only take so much abuse in that power range so you will be looking at a clutch at some point down the road

a 2.5 exhaust will be sufficient. a 3in might be a lil over kill for a stg1 and a 3in will be louder. not that 3in would be bad but just not really necessary. probably would yield slightly higher hp gains though.

why dont you give tag racecraft a call they can answer all your questions. better than i can. they make the stuff.

sweet tag racecraft should make me a representative or something j/k

and if gm only knew that i had betrayed them. its funny i work for gm and i dont even recommend their stg kits if you want to make big power. they are perfect if you can aviod the catching the modding bug and just be happy with a stg2.

hell i told my fiance that i buying this car with no intentions of modifying it, and it was true at the time. that worked out well huh?
