Pretty sweet. Car runs sooo much smoother now, it's weird.

It's a heat exchanger.

Its an upgraded heat exchanger, as a intercooler is to turbos, a heat exchanger is to supercharger.

The car definitely runs smoother. Even the temperature gauge runs lower than normal. I have Progress springs, I don't think they make them for the 'balts. Sorry. But they only lowered it like 1". I also have a 225/40R17 Nitto 555 tire on the car which is like .6" smaller in overall diameter than the stock Dunlops.

The factory one is sandwiched between the a/c condenser and the radiator. A GREAT place to soak up extra heat. Lol.

They go for anywhere from $40 to $125. Depends on usage/age. A company called LFP also makes an upgraded unit that is much larger and cools much better, but it's also like $300 and they only come new. Installation brackets and screws cost me about $25 including some extra DEX-COOL. I don't know how well these fit the Cobalt though. The stock Cobra exchanger is 2" wide, 6.5" tall and about 26" long. See how well something like that fitts behind your bumper.

Hey thanks for those dimensions. That should help a lot.

For you Cobalt guys interested there are other posts about this. I have a Cobra HE on my car right now. No problems with install, just takes a little ingenuity.

Well, it wouldn't matter now anyway. To get the results I'm curious about, you would've had to been scanning alot and know your car. You could've tested different things like a 1/4 mile blast, sitting at a stoplight, 50-100mph, etc. Than you could log what your starting and ending temps were, and then compare them with your results from the same tests after the extra heat exchanger was installed. Rob did this, and I think he saw around a 20 degreee drop in temps.

I have the LS1 scanning software and a palm pilot. I bought this when I had my Regal GS. It works with all GM OBDII. Now that I have the 3" pulley on I will be logging to see what my temps are. I am talking with a guy from the SVT forums about getting his Cobra HE as we speak. I will need to know how you fabricated the brackets for the HE and ran the plumbing.

PM me when you get the HE from him so you can see what I'm talking about. It took me like an hour total to get it all up and running.
