Well I just got done dropping my girlfriend off from work when I was on M-59 west going back home and at old vandyke and hall rd this red 97 cobra was roaring from behind with his dog in the back seat. I caught up to him at a 2nd gear roll after the light doing almost 40 and catch up with him. My exhaust is whining like crazy because I haven't shifted gears yet. Anyways, I see him look at me real quick with this grin and starts to take off. At this point he is already a car length ahead of me.

I throw it in 3rd and get moving, we get to almost 100 MPH when I had this gut feeling something DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT, so at this point he is already 5 cars ahead of me and I say screw it and slow down back to 55mph (the speed limit) and right before the last overpass.... sure enough a COP! the cobra will still going 100 something and I was way back at this point and the cop clock him and immediatly pulled him over. Here I am shitting a brick thinking he is going to waive me to pull over too because the gut feeling kicked in when I seen a nose of a car sticking down from a hill.

Cobra owner pulls over and I keep on going , cop didn't even look my way. Cop looked pissed!! Good thing I am not the cobra owner. He got reckless driving or at least 20 over for sure!! OUCH!

 

Must have been modded, those things are just as slow as the 99-04 GT's.

I also have a sixth sense when it comes to cops.

 

Yea, '93-'98 cobra's are all 14 sec. cars stock. You shouldn't have gotten raped that bad.

Maybe the 93-05 ones, but the 96-98 can certainly hit high 13's. It has happened many many times.

Exactly. The 96-98 Cobra's are a legit 300HP. 13's is far from rare in them.

 

Yea, but barely..like 13.8-13.9 I believe SVT advertised them as a 13.9 or 14.1. i will look at my $53 book dedicated soley to all SVT's from '93-'03..called 'Powered BY SVT'. I'm pissed I don't know this from heart. i'm a huge SVT fanboy.

 

99-04 GT's have also hit high 13's but that doesn't make them 13 second cars.

 

You're making me weary. Anybody here even run 14.5 yet? We know the Cobras are quick. Legit 300 HP. Good top end (DOHC motor).

96-98 Cobra's should walk Cobalts, which is what happened here. Reality Cody.

 

96-98 Cobras are faster than 99-04 GT's...especially from a roll. They make decent top-end power. They make terrible low-end power which is why most, if not all 96-98 Cobras have 4.10 gears just to make it drive normal for a V-8.

 

Yea, i always jokingly call the cobra motor a "V8 Honda engine", due to the fact that they don't wake up until after 4k rpm.
