H/e For Cobalt Ss

Well I just got off the phone with Mark at Lightning Force Performance. As many of you know the redline has a H/E already being fitted. Well I will be getting mine from Mark by this weekend to start test fitting and making it run. Well once the prototype is finished this is what Cobalt's will be looking forward to. Not only is this H/E Aluminum, tig-welded but it has 18 fins per inch which is the most you can have! The flow tubes are also on the same side so the liquid will stay in the HE longer and be colder. The cobalt's will also have an ICE-BOX coming out very soon. I am not the tester of the ICE box but have talked to mark and that should be out in the next couple weeks. Our Shop R&E AUTOMOTIVE IN ILLINOIS will be offering these H/E's for cheap!!! Mark is going to supply our shop with them to sell. These will be offered at a cheaper price than online. We are not sure what we are going to sell them for but we will guarantee they will be under retail.. maybe near wholesale!! I KNOW EVERYONE LOVES TO HEAR THE WORD... WHOLESALE!!!

ILL HAVE PICS UP THIS WEEKEND AFTER I TAKE OFF MY 2nd STOCK H/E AND PUT ON THIS NEW ONE!!!

Right now we are workin on a site. If we do not have the site up you can buy them through me on paypal. I just cant wait to check out this H/E.. But we will offer them to everyone who wants them!! Hopefully we dont sell out too fast or they will be on backorder! So it will be first come first serve. I know there are a couple Cobalt SS's in IL close to Naperville/Aurora that will prob drive out to the shop to pick them up but we will be selling them to wherever! Not sure about Canada yet... Sorry but we will find out for sure soon just because of customs!

You'll love it...it has been raining almost nonstop here lately so I'm going to be able to get the front end off again and get the brackets completed for the redline! Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday it will be done and be shipped back down to Mark.

Im really excited about this but what are the real gains if any? How much colder IAT2 temps can be expected? How hard is the install? And finally, is it worth it? These are all questions that I will need answered before i buy it.

You can PROBABLY see 20-30 degree drops in IAT2...which I have seen people with ice boxes that drop the temps 25 degrees and see a 20hp gain with no tuning. Results will be supplied and I don't know about the one for the Cobalt, but I know the one for the RL is a straight bolt up and will hopefully only take one hour to do and really simple.

Also, the main gain is not only dropping the temps about 30 degrees, but when dropping them like that you get to add timing which means even more gains when you tune it

Overall you can see a lot more than 20whp after tuning. I am running mine in line with the stock HE, then to the pump, then through a huge ice box, filled with dry ice.

not to fill the thread with dumb questions, but can someone explain this to me? How does it work? I read a whole article about it, but I can't really understand the concept. Also, does it sit in front of the AC condenser? Will it be hard to force air through the h/e, the condenser, the i/c, and the radiator? thanks guys

THANK YOU! but yes it is a H/E it will flow through the HE and still cool everything off behind it! I will most likely be takin off my stock H/E though... But still not sure yet. The cobalt will be about an hour or so max install. I will be fitting it when I get it and sending my sketch of the brackets. Once in production everything will be ready to order.

We'll start at the IC pump...it will flow from there to my ice box (no ice box=straight to IC), then to the IC, down to the stock HE, out of that to the Cobra HE, then back to the IC pump. I'm going to test and check to see if it is any more efficient to just cut the stock HE out of the flow of things since it is in there crammed between the radiator and AC Condensor.

My other plan might be the same way, but maybe putting the ice box before the pump, not sure if the pump turning though would warm any of the coolant though.

The matter of air for the raditor and AC condensor will not be effected due to the fans.
