this happen to anyone else?

So my car randomly shut itself off under hard acceleration one day, took about 5 minutes for it to restart no big deal.
Right after my stage 2 installation, go out for a test drive with the tech, it happend again. Thankfully this time I had a tech who had a tech 2 already plugged in, here the crank sensor was having issues but wasnt triggering a SES light.
So my car went into service today to get that taken care of, with a SES light on ( I assumed the crank sensor finally triggered it) but here my Cat went bad already lol.

I only have 12,XXX miles geeze.

Also, my car is boosting way higher than what it was when the kit first went on a week or two ago. According to the guage its hitting 17-18 PSI possibly 19 PSI once. Only other part i have on the car is a KN drop in filter. Granted the air is colder but that seems like really high boost. The GM tech assistance said that can happen in colder air around 6.5k-7K RPMs which makes sense, just seems a bit too high.

Bad cat would cause you to boost higher than normal, but the way your car died does resember the crank position sensor issue that has plagued many LSJ engines.

Had a similar thing happen at the same miles.

Dropping the cat has helped.

Was the crank sensor under warranty?

Yes they covered it under warranty. I just picked it up from the dealer, the cat is on order. THe gauge still says its boosting high ~18 PSI but it feels like its dying around 5K RPM despite what the guage says. Is the cat causing it to boost high but the car feels like its hitting a wall?

It sounds like your cat is clogged. Either gut it like I did or get a test pipe

has anyone had the issue where the cat cloged and started to burn oil? there was oil in the manifold and down pipe im getting puffs of smoke through the oil filler and dipstick tube. i mean this thing is really burning oil. it feels like it misses badly at like 2 thousand rpms then clears up but brunt all the oil in a couple ofr tips up and down the street. i canged the spark plugs as well the last cylinder on the driver side had oil all in the spark plug hole and on the electrode end. any thoughts? i also got some oil along the side of the motor under the valve cover. the intake tubes were covered in a pool of oil and something else reminded me of the milky oil but kinda yellowish tone to it. any way...... thanks gain to the community for keeping me laughing on the work cahts and ramdom stuff and awsome feedback and help.

my car shut off when i was full throttle one day sounded like it blew up then wouldnt restart for like 5 mins come to find out it was the crank sensor. I just cleared the code and drove it about a week latter the cat cloges on it and this is all at around 15k on the car. I had them put a high flow cat and the GM ported header on it ( I also have a air box mod with K&N and a 3rc carbon muffler) and the car has been pulling up to 14 psi of boost yes it has the stock pully and injectors on it still. I your car extremly fast for what it has done to it like pull on a stage 2 cobalt? If so welcom to the freek car club!! lol

its at 25k and its all stock.!!!!!!!! im ******* pissed cause gm didnt wantto warent the cat cause i removed it my self and left a few scratched on the inside when getting the huge chunk out of it that was blokking the o2 sensor and lodged in the can. yea i was a gm tech for several years and apparently i dont know what im doing ..... how **** up is that i knew someone was gonna say rings i was hoping there was something else simpler i may have over looked the only other thing i can think of is worn valve seals.

Oil everywhere? On the insides of your engine.. that doesnt sound BAD to you??

You didnt go and get that checked out? Your probably just doing wayyyyyyyyy more damage than what was already done by driving it..

I just think you didnt want it to be anything bad so you decided to over look the bad stuff.
