Question Header/Downpipe combos

Done a general forum search on the header and downpipe options and the only 2 threads i found were from 2007
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...pe-size-77167/
https://www.cobaltss com/threads/the-header-thread.7159/#post-113608 <I Had to space this link as for some reason its replacing cobaltss with asterisks like its censoring it

My SS desperately needs a catback and a downpipe as some dipwad cut the flange off the downpipe and put a 3" pipe over the 2.5 when they lopped the resonator off so its deafeningly loud
Can someone post or link a guide to what advantages and disadvantages to a shorty, mid length and long tube? I do know in the future i want to get a smaller pully and MAYBE injectors. ZZP Says the 1.75" primaries on a header are better for SS engines, but of course they want to sell there products and speak highly of all 3 options. I REALLY like the look and price of ZZP's 2.5 stainless catback, im just unsure on the headers and downpipes.

I seem to recall that the shorty is better for low and mid range torque and the long tube is for top end power. Mid is the in-between.

Long tube probably your best bet on a blower car. OTTP made the first, iirc, and it made really good power. Pretty sure ZZP made theirs after seeing the demand for OTTP's.

I am in similar circumstances, have the stock exhaust and there is a rattle that is driving me nuts - join the Facebook group and do a search on there, there is a lot of discussion about various headers/downpipes. Long-term, I think the long tube headers and 2.5 cat back are going to work for me, I plan to stay supercharged and get a ported head and possibly 3.1 pulley and 42# injectors. Conservatively modded I would call it. When I get all this done, I'll report back with how it performs.

It you have a rattle, you should check your heat shields first.

I just installed the zzp longtime header and 3" exhaust. Thinking about going turbo though....
