Question Header/Full Exhaust Help!

I am currently looking to purchase a header for my SS/SC.
I have searched through 5 pages of search results and have only seen 2 headers mentioned. The TOG header, and a header that Hahn "Might" produce.

What other headers are out there for these cars and what are the specs on them?

My plans were to do a complete exhaust system.
I plan this system to be catless.
If I were to buy a catback system (Magnaflow) and a header... what else would I need to complete the system? I've never tinkered with a 4-cylinder car before. Do I need a down pipe? If so where does it go from? The header to the cat?

If I run the car catless, will I experience any problems? I understand I will have a CEL, but it wont hurt anything correct?

A catback system is meant to bolt right up to the cat correct? Does anyone have any detail install pictures of the magnaflow system so I could see?

Originally I was going to just purchase a catback system. But I've always been a believer that if your going to do something, don't half ass it, and do it right the first time.

Looking to basically have a straight through system with a resonator, and a muffler.

Thanks for any help!
-Craig

Vibrant will be releasing a full 4-2-1 header, with a high flow cat and a 3" catback system. Little pricy but i think the overall gains will be well worth it.

What company produces the gm header, is it pacesetter? I wonder if there would be decent gains from the gm header compared to other companys.

Does anyone have / know anyone that has the SCdyne Header? How is it?
Also, what are the stock headers port sizes, And is it 2.5" at the collector on the stock header?

Jmc007 has an scdyne header. The collector on the stock manifold is smaller than 2.5 for sure. I don't know the size though.

From what i researched, the stock exhaust manifold has 1"x1 1/4 Ovalish ports then a 2" collector.

The SCdyne header has 1 3/4" ports to a 2 1/2" collector.

Thats fine if the collector is 2 1/2" because i plan on running 2.5 all the way back.. because thats what the magnaflow system is.

I have one on my car since a couple months and I didn't experiment any major issues. First week I got it installed, I get a little crack on a weld but got it fix by a welder. Maybe not the best quality, but the design get really the job done. I used the stock gaskets without issues, but we had to grind the largest flange a bit. Expect 10 whp or a bit less, because the most restrictive part on our car is not the header but the exhaust head itself and the rear muffler.

You cannot ask for perfection from a 400$ part since there is some header that will be out soon for 700 $ (Vibrant Performance).

The ceramic coating is peeling a bit too, but the header is mostly hidden behind the motor so you don't see it.

Also, these SCdyne header were made in the past by Hotshot, but now I think Adam got another maker for them. Since I am not sure, just PM him or e-mail him.

I would recommend them for the good design and the flow gain. To me it's the most important.

The collector is really 2,5". Most of the catback companies went out with 2,5" catbacks.

I would stay away from the GMPP header, since it flows only 30 CFM more than stock.
