Red face Header Question Help Please

Im about to order some headers for my 06 cobalt ss/sc and just had a quick question there is 2 different types of the PaceSetters that im getting. Black and Armor Coat. 100 dollars in price difference Armor Coat being more at 264.00. Going with the Armor Coat would it give me more HP then if i were to go with the black ones??? Or is it just a cosmetic thing??

No need to buy more than one header.

Cosmetic, but more importantly longer lasting. The armor coat is like an anticorrosive coating IIRC.

The coat is for it to prevent rusting out. Both do the same and give the same hp

I would buy BAD MAB header than Pacesetter. But BAD MAB gasket is ok. But won't last. Just get copper gasket from head to header and Remflex gasket from header to downpipe. You won't regret it. Pacesetter won't last cause they are 2 bolt downpipe. It will leak from time to time.

I think remflex only makes a 2.5" gasket

only piece that the majority of the members on this forum will go for(price alone) at least it performs for that price though

I would go with the new ZZP Midlengh combo over a Bad-Mab and aftermarket DP in a heart beat.

$409 - ZZP Midlengh w/ high flow cat.

$189 - Bad-Mab Header
$220 - ZZP DP w/ High flow cat.
$409

If you go with a Pacesetter you can get a cat'd dp that will bolt up for $220 from OTTP.

OTTP Pacesetter Down Pipe

Yeah, but the thing is ZZP Midlength Header is not stainless steel compare to Bad Mab and ZZP 3inches downpipe with 2.5 exit is stainless steel. That will last longer than ZZP Midlength Header. But whoever decide what they want and what they are asking for.

Id like to know why people recommend the Bad-Mab over the pacesetter or zzp mid length. I know its a bit cheaper but im sure the performance from both will still be slightly better then the bad-mab

There has been no proof that a long tube or mid length header produces more power than a shorty on the LSJ.

In theory they should, but in reality supercharged cars are not as sensitive to exhaust back pressure as a Turbo or N/A car.

The real restriction lies in the exhaust ports of the head.

OP, go with what you can afford, but do some more research on each type first.

Exactly.

I think the main reason why people recommend it is because a lot of people are already running aftermarket DPs. So adding a bad-mab to complete the exhaust is only going to cost another $190.

But for people with a completely stock setup, I think a ZZP mid length is a much better value.
