I am getting a CA Heat exchanger and I was wondering if it is better to just replace the stock heat exchanger for the CA one, or just run both heat exchangers? Which do you feel would drop the IAT2 temps more? I was told that it may be better to run both becuase of the additional volume of coolant with both heat exchangers? I also am getting the GMPP dual Pass option B and wondered if 2 heat exchangers are needed when I plan on running the dual pass anyways?

I also plan on running approx 60% dexcool, 40 % water (distilled) and a bottle of water wetter.

I could use some advice?

if the temps drop below 32 degree's. it is not wise to run straight water.

 

LOOK at My Location>> LOL, We never see below 42 degrees. It snowed once here in 1979 & didn't even make it to the Ground!

It does go below freezing here in canada, I think that running 60/40 dexcool/water should be alright, i am also going to be running water wetter with this mix. Is this better for IATs then just running straight dexcool? Or should I adjust the mix even more (ie. 50/50 d/w or 40/60 d/w) ??

 

im fully aware of that. not everyone is smart enough to notice that. then again, most people don't know where rhode island is either.

Combo. As you know, water is the best property to cool a motor down safely. But water freezes, so what the dexcool/antifreeze does is raises the freezing point of the water and in return water raises the boiling temp of the dexcool/antifreeze.

The only time you run 100% water is when you live where it doesn't get under freezing.

 

Ok so what percentage of dexcool to water than for a climate that is freezing 4 months of the year? can I get away with 40% dexcool 60% water? Plus add redline water wetter??

 

IMO run a 45% dexcool 45% water and 10% water wetter

I thought the ZEX were pre-gapped and you shouldn't mess w/ it...

 

No they are pre gapped, just put them right in, the best plugs in my opinion, I have used many sets of NGK BKR7E's at differnt gappes (0.040, 0.035, 0.032, etc..) and the ZEX are the best by far

 

I'm pretty sure stock is 50/50 dex/wat. You should be fine w/ one bottle of water wetter and 45/45...

 

Really i didnt know that I thought the intercooler coolant was 100% dexcool just like in the rad?

 

Any car manufacturer would be completely idiotic to put 100% of ANYTHING to cool the car down.

 

No, the dexcool in the rad is also 50/50 mix from GM. If you go to Autozone or something, you'll see that they sell it both straight dexcool, or pre-mixed 50/50 for convenience...
