Help! Dealership trying to screw me!

I have had the problem known as boost surge with my stage 2 Balt, and have taken it to the dealership a few times.

After all the attempts to fix it(including the reflash), they have decided the only thing to do is take off the stage 2 kit, test it then to see if it was incorrectly installed.

I bought the car 2nd hand with 1500 miles on it, so I'm not sure which dealership installed the stage 2. I am in the process of trying to get the paperwork from him.

But here is the problem. The dealership said they will pay for that stage 2 to be taken off and retested, but if I want to put the stage 2 back on, then I will have to pay for the reinstallation.

This is crap!!!

It is all GM parts, and was installed by a GM dealership.

What should I do? I don't think I should have to pay for the reinstallation, but they arn't leaving me with much of a choice.

Any suggestions??

probably the best thing for you to do is find out who did it originally and take it to them

Yeah... I am going to try to track him down, but I know that after I sell a car, rarely do I answer the phone when they call me a couple months later....

Def worth a try though

Yeah, I will try that too.

But when I go to a different dealer, will they be able to pull up records that I have had it in at other dealerships?

Would it be worth it to have the reflash done more than once?

I don't see how this is a...

Dealership ----> Screwing

Situation, now that you have started service at the dealership, it's likely on file, you might not be able to get a diferent outcome at another dealership.

I think you really have to tell us whats really going on here.

I don't understand what you mean..

I am experiencing boost surge. It is a semi-common stage 2 problem. A reflash should fix it, but it hasn't. Everything is still under warranty, so it shouldn't cost me anything to have them fix something that they have gauranteed(with a warranty).

So I am getting screwed because they want me to pay for something that according to the warranty, they have to fix.

It is not a problem with the gauge, becasue I can actually feel the uneven acceleration..

If your worried about them not being able to look up your records from the dealer that is trying to screw you...then as that dealer to print up a copy of all your records from them, and take it to the new dealer so they can look at them.

You won't have a problem, unless the next dealer you go to is a **** too...then I'd just grab a set of these and be like...whats the problem? Fix my car.

Being a GM Tech is wonderful, I love every bit of it. This is one instance where you'll see a customer getting "Screwed" but to be honest it looks like the dealership is trying to get work out of it. GM will only cover so much of a warranty, especially a Stage Kit.

Gm Techs get paid flat rate, so a warranty job only pays so much, if GM decides they'll only pay for so much then its really the Tech getting screwed out of money there. To be it honestly sounds like the dealership is trying to get labor pay for the tech who's doing it. Otherwise you get a tech. paid for part of the job and waisting his time putting everything back on and not getting paid for it.

If you are a mechanic and there is a job like this normally you can get straight time. GM figures out what a certain job should pay, if you get a job that they have a time for lets say CTS Axle seals then you either do it in the time or start wasting your time. If you are any good you can do the job faster then the asigned warranty time and move on to another job, if the job is a high time diag then you can go onto straight time and kinda get hourly. Your not getting paid for part of the job your getting paid for the whole job.

Anyways being a mechanic has it's ups and downs and right now the business is slow and that sucks.

Go to another dealer and talk to the service manager in the service manager and tell them what the old dealer is doing and if they are a good dealer they will say **** them they are lazy and we will take care of you because we would like to have your business.
