13 people viewed so far and no heLP!! oh well, i figured out i need the "compressed" one which is the only one available at oreillys, i'm putting it in tommorrow when i get home from work, hopefully it solves the nasty noise and hopefully nothing else is fucked, oh did i mention my truck broke down and i had to put 300 into it for new radiator etc... like 6 days ago and that night when parked outside of auto zone and checking out a bonehead backed out and swung his front end into the cobalt...so i get to fix the tensioner and then get another estimate then hopefully get the fender/wheel fixed repaired and hopefully the balt will be good to goto florida in june 78,000 miles and counting

If it's a ticking noise, its the tensioner. Pull your plugs out so your engine settles then use a 32MM socket on the back passanger side of the engine to remove the old tensioner being careful it comes out in once peice. Then replace with the new one from www.crateenginedepot.com.

Replace plugs, proceed on with life as if it never happened. Minus noise.

^ What he (I) said haha.

Don't get the compressed spring one, that's the old style and will fail again. You need the revised tensioner as shown in the link.
