Ecotec Timing Chain Tensioner 12608580 - Crate Engine Depot
that the only part i need for a ss/sc?
that the only part i need for a ss/sc?
I had mine done under warranty on my SS/SC so cant give you a dollar amount . If I would have had to pay to replace it I would have done it myself for sure . Some people just unscrew the old one out of the back of the head and screw the new one in and have no problems at all ....... they must get lucky when the tensioner activates itself at the first engine start .....and stays in alignment .
The correct way to replace it is to take the valve cover off ( u can reuse the VC gasket ) , then remove and install the new tensioner ...... the new one will come in the collapsed position so once it's in you need to tap it to activate the tensioner.
Just so you know ....GM redesigned the tensioner back in late 06 because of the issues they were having with the old design .... so if you do it yourself and see they are different do worry about it .
