high iat2

I have read a ton of threads about high iat2's. My mods are TVS 2.9, 60's, dual pass with option b, stock he, phenolic spacer, vibrant header and down pipe, stock exhaust with a trifecta tune. I recently purchased an aeroforce gauge so i can monitor iats and i think there might be a problem. For example today it was 60 degrees outside and my iat2 was at 110. I wasnt gunning it at all. It always climbs when i am at a stoplight and when i get going it drops but shoots back up as soon as i stop. I have read some peoples iats running only 10-15 above ambient with similar mods. Not sure what could be wrong or is this normal. When i parked i touched the blower and it was hot. I check the he coolant and no heat there. I checked my ic pump and it is working i hear it kick on when i turn the key. I also kink the hose and feel the flow in there. ANy ideas? When i first installed thte dual pass i double and triple checked the laminovas to make sure they were in there correct. Kind of dumbfounded on what is going on.

The temps climb when you are at a stop, because there isnt sufficient airflow being ingested or over the heat exchanger.

As long as they come back down once you start driving, you will be fine.

Monitor both IAT1 and IAT2 on the interceptor and compare. Cruising you should see ~20* difference. Don't worry about the climbing temps when stopped.

While we are at this topic. What is PCV doing with our merasured IAT?

I often see my IAT2 rise directly when the throttle is closed and lower when the TB opens again. Think the hot PCV gasses play a role here to, as there will be almost no cool airflow coming through the Lam. cores. Crank gasses will be hot and uncooled...

Reporting back. My iat1 was at 79 my iat2 started out at 79 and climbed to 120 cruising. Gunned it and at wot it was 145 and when i let off of it and dropped back down to 125 and would stay steady between 125-130 cruising. So just from what you guys are saying this is normal, right?

Your cruising temps are a little high, but as long as the temps came back down quickly after a pull you should be ok.

It was 80 degrees out where he was. 125 IAT2 isnt really that high. I feel the pain of a supercharged car in the hot southern climate.

My car runs about 37-42 degrees above ambient.
60s,2.9,m62,optionb,FHME.

I am going to switch the A/C condensor and factory heat exchanger around to see if I can lower them.

I read what his IAT1's were.....

My car when it's 80 and humid out has cruising temps around 110. Again, comparing IAT2's is about as retarded as comparing boost, but I only said they seem a "little high" from my experience, and my logs.

I didnt say whoa bam your **** is going to blow up. Chill.

I am chill? Lol.

I am not sure how that came across in any other way than just informative; that is all it was supposed to be.

You are right though because just like with boost, sea level comes in to play as does air density.

Like you said, they climb and they drop quick so he is good. His tune should have a boost cut from high IAT2 built into it (hopefully).

Thanks for the responses. I feel better now. Going to get a meth kit installed. I am sure it will help with my temps as well.

Wanted to revisit this again. TOday my iat1 was 60 and my iat2 got up to 110-115 without even gunning it. That just seems really high. For the past few days it seems like it has been consistently about 50 degrees above iat1. This is only driving for about 20 minutes or so. I am sure it would have kept climbing. Double checked the pump again and it is working as well as checked lines and plumbing. No problem there. My next step will be to take everything back apart and check the laminovas. Dont know what else to do.

maybe you have air in the system.. i know whenever i drain an refill the h/e system iat2's are always wacky
after about 2 days of driving they go back to being 10* above ambient ive never scene 37-42* above ambient temp even in the AZ desert, only when i had air in the system is when they are like that

Sitting still that's pretty normal. The manifold and engine will be 200 degrees so the air heats up pretty good when it's not moving. It also doesn't matter as long as it cools back down when driving/abusing.
