WOW.

CrateEngineDepot had already shipped my St. 2, and UPS says it should be here today.

I said T-O-D-A-Y

That's only 2 days from Order-To-Received!

This is another example of why I avoid ordering from other those "more risky" buyer/seller web sites.

Peace of mind ...

It appears that your dad's info was incorrect.

I just called Denooyer and they said the price for a St. 2 install is $360+tax.

So far then, I've got quotes for $400 and $360.

Guess that's the price one pays for living in the State of New York ...

I wish (see my post above).

I wish (see my post above).

Damn, that sucks. It's cheaper than 400 but still.. Sorry about the wrong info. I would try DePaula Chevrolet, Salisbury Chevrolet, and maybe even Northstar Chevrolet for prices. There has to be somewhere cheaper around here.

Well, you live in Indiana.

In the "business unfriendly" State of New York where I reside ... I guess things are different.

Well mine is already bought and paid for and should be arriving at any moment.

But $400 seems to be the going rate for a dealer install here in NY.

Stage 2 Has Arrived!

I found it on my doorstep when I finished my 24 hr. shift this morning.

And seeing how it's now Saturday, I'll have wait until early next week for the install.

Stage 2 within the week!

Your Opinion:

I'm looking at two dealers to have the St. 2 installation done.
  • one is about 10-12 miles from where I live
  • they are asking $360 for the install
  • they said they've done quite a few St. 2 upgrades
  • the other dealer is only a couple of miles away
  • wants $400 for the work (but said he would see if he could get that down a bit)
  • I believe he said they've only done a few St. 2 upgrades

So the first would seem like the logical choice, but if something goes askew with the install, I'd rather it have been done at the dealer closer to my home.

So which one would you guys go to?

Do you consider 10-12 miles to not be close to your home? I would definitely go with the first one. A 10-15 minute drive is not bad at all.

Man I paid for 2 hours labor on my stage 2. Cost $160 for install. They did it right the first time too! GM even says it pays 1.5 hours for install, however 2 hours is what it really should pay as the tech shouldnt rush through it. I called 5 GM dealers, only 1 knew what I was even talking about, and they had done a bunch. When I asked how much it would cost to have a stage 2 kit installed on a supercharged cobalt ss they were like "um whats stage 2? Here talk to my boss..." after so many bosses I got ZERO answers. Called brown and brown and the guy says "Oh nice man the tech that works here does them all the time, he even owns an SS. It cost 160 for the install" etc etc....

Shop around!

10-12 miles not close? Yup!

The 10-12 mile drive is to another city, so we're talking about a 1/2 hr. drive. The other dealer is only 5-10 min. away.

Well, both dealers have done St. 2's. And like I said, the dealer further from me mentioned they had already done a number of them (their mechanic had even done one on his own car).

But even at that dealer, they said the price was going to be $360 for the install.

LOL

So in a week or two, I should have a Factory Warrantied Stage 2 SS/SC!
I thought about ordering it from crateenginedepot.com also, cause they seemed to be the cheapest. However when browsing on ebay, I found it for sell from 1fastlittlecar and got it brand new for $435.00 shipped. Everyone that doesn't already have stage 2, keep your eye on ebay from this seller cause he sells them sometimes for $380 at buy it now and its all brand new unopened.

Oh and by the way, shipping from the seller arrived earlier then the tracking number stated, 2 days earlier, so it took 3 business days to get to me. My buddy that ordered it from crateenginedepot.com took 2 and a half weeks!!

Yeah, I already knew that ebay sold it cheaper. But for some reason, I just don't trust doing business on ebay (especially on higher ticket items).

So I paid more, but I had peace of mind.

Still, I got mine in only 3 days as well. Must have something to do with if they have it in stock at the time of the order.

How do you like your St. 2?

I ordered mine from ebay, so it should be here soon..The guy has tons of good feedback, so thats a plus. Hes just a little under on communication, but through paypal, your guarenteed to get the product or if you get dicked around, they will resolve the problem or get the money back and go after the seller. Thats my understanding. I live in Canada with mine shipped it was $445.00 total..
