Hopefully a simple LSJ/LNF T-Chain Tensioner question...Please?

I read the how to, and noticed some of you guys have said to get the new one from CED that the LNF's come with (hydro). The OP who made the how to had to remove the valve cover, while some other members have said.....simply remove the old one (old lsj) and reinstall the LNF (hydro)....as simple as removing it by unscrewing it.

Is this correct? I have had a noise under hood and this morning a rattling noise which I think is the tensioner. Anyone confrim?

yea it probablt is the tensioner you dont have to remove the v cover but i would and use some zipties or small rope to take up the slack in the chain the reason i say this because if the chain has alot of slack in it is there is a chance it can jump time when the old tensioner jumps out (it happened to me)

How would you go about tying it to make sure it doesnt skip?

you can use long zipties or small rope and wrap it from the ex side of the chain to the int side to make sure the slack dosent come into the chain when you remove the tensioner if the chain is realy loose it will jump when you remove it due to the fact that the tensioner will jump out of the head from being spring loaded (the updayed tensioner will do the same when unscrewed) when it gets all the way to the end of the threads

Its hard to get across emotion on the interweb....it was kinda a lol im not stupid dang kinda thing. Either way....

+1 for just removing it and installing it with no v/c removal. I did take the advice offered elsewhere about bumping the engine 3-4 times with out actually starting it to make sure it didnt bind...and to "set" everything. Started up and runs fine!

Thanks all who helped!
