How hot are you running?

Just had all of the listed parts on my sig. installed on the balt. It was the first really humid and hot day here in Maryland, about 82 degrees. The car was running about 180-183 while I was driving, not to bad. But of course when you sit in traffic, she goes up, my coolant went up to 198 and then once I started to move she went back down. My question to you is how hot are you running in these warmer temps now that summer will be here. And what would be the easiest thing to do as far as a cooling mod, just get a lower thermostat put in? Just let me here your thoughts please.

that is normal, probably better than normal in 82 degree weather.

mine is between 178-184 when driving and will go over 200 when sitting for long periods of time just in 50 degree weather. i have seen it up to 210s in warm summer weather. nothin to worry about

yep i experience the same thing. driving around it will be 176-183 and then as soon as i come to a redlight it jumps into the 190's and its still not even summer yet... last summer I saw some brutal temps all the way up to 223 before the fan kicked on... ****** eaton 'charger.

I'm in the process of dealing with BHOOOSTED to get one of his new H/E and possibly running a dual pass end plate if that H/E doesn't bring me down to where I want to be (consistant 170s or lower).

that isn't going to affect your coolant temps

ahh alright, wow I feel really dumb... but since these mods lower air temps wouldn't they some how end up lowering the coolant temp?

I just think its weird that of the 4 other vehicles I have owned none of them ever went past 180 degress (coolant temp) unless I was sitting at the Peace Bridge for like 4 hours straight lol but my cobalt ss/sc will reach 223 in the summer... nuts...

True but you wanna stay away from any extra load on the alternator, we have some trains at work (amusement park ride tech) and they opted to put an intercom on the train, they have Ford 5cycl on them and we've gone thru so many alternators, but with the SS alternators it's a higher out put so you should be safe?

Ok another post...just remove the stocker and replace with the same about of ampres you can have like 3 fans depending on size and you will be ok....light bulb clicked.

yes i did remove the stocker as it burned out....replaced it with a better one that pushes more air and only pulls 5 amps.....so now im thinking about getting a second one and putting it on the front side...and ill still be pulling less amps than the stocker

surprised that noone has twigged to water instead of dexcool in the h/e in summer lowers h/e coolant temps at least 5 degrees....and yes option B wont affect engine coolant temps and yes 210 220 is not unknown for engine coolant temps and you probably have air in the h/e ifyou dont have the option B and remote reservoir....06 ss sc in arizona should know about coolant temps...humidity is always more difficult for cooling than dry air given equal temps...make sure your fans are running sometimes the fuse/relay can blow...

turn your ac on when the temps hit that high. This will turn on the fan automatically, and it will drop your coolant temps to around mid 180s
