How to install the Injen CAI for 2.0 SS/SC without any rubbing!

I just installed mine today. I've read up on the whole thing from problems that people have been experiencing.

1. How the filter hits the bumper.
Proposed forum fix: Place the rubber spacer on the outside of the bracket to hold it on instead of having the bracket mount to it. This was impossible on mine since the intake wouldn't even go into the elbow before the supercharger.
My Fix: How I fixed it was I took the end of the bracket and straightened out the end part. Then at the end, I bent about 1/2" of it back to the original angle and used only the nut to hold it on. This resulted in the filter being almost an inch from hitting the bumper.

2. Where it rubs on the side of the brace in the engine compartment and where it fits through the hole above the filter compartment.
Proposed forum fix: Some people put foam/weatherstripping to prevent it from happening. Which I will eventually do....however, those edges are somewhat sharp and will eventually wear through, not to mention put strain on the whole assembly. With the engine flexing (Don't have the Ingalls), it will eventually rub through.
My Fix: To fix it permentally, I bent the metal down with a hammer and then took some pliers to fold it over. You really can't see it, so who cares what it looks like. I easily have over 1/2 clearance on all sides and in some places much more.

3. Worry about water getting in the intake.
My Fix:I purchased an Injen Hydroshield to aid in preventing that. However, I am still waiting for it to come in from Turbo Tech Racing since 22 Dec 06. In the meantime, I couldn't keep staring at my intake on the living room floor. So, one of my buddies said on his GTO forum, they mentioned covering it up with pantyhose. It basically does the same thing as the Hydroshield, so I gave that a try...only cost $1.28 for 2 pair. I put black ones on it and it looks sharp.

Hope this helps. I'll try and get some pics of it this weekend before I put the foam on and paint my cailpers.

There is another way to get that rubber bumper to work properly..

The problem with it is, in the picture, if you notice, the bumper is bottomed out but when you screw it in all the way it doesn't bottom out. Try taking a small drill bit and drilling it out a little at a time until you can screw the rubber bumper in all the way. Then you can install everything correctly and nto have any problems.

Ouch! Bending and scratching the metal so it doesn't rub the intake. All you have to do is install the intake and tighten all the clamps except the one around the rubber adapter. Then twist the intake away from the metal as you tighten the last clamp. My intake is a good 3/4" away.

Mine did thread all the way on, however the bracket from the pipe must not have been welded in the right position. When I put the bushing on first, then the bracket, the pipe was a such an angle it wasn't even touching the rubber elbow on the supercharger. So I had no choice but to bend the bracket. It was easier to bend it the way I did, versus sideways becuase it would have probably broken off.

Tried that...my bracket couldn't of been welded in the right place...the pipe was basically horizontal and wasn't even touching the elbow...I wasn't going to try and force it into place becuase the bracket more than likely would of broke since it was so far off.
