Guys...IIRC from his last thread his daughter isn't some 16 year old high school noob, shes a 20-something.

So, yeah, I'd be inclined to believe it too.

Turns out the differential is broken as I suspected.

More like 18. And she pounds on that car at the track.

Tough luck Ted. Hope everything turns out fine.

BTW, I would have been to your shop for some more work but I got laid off so plans got pushed back a bit.

I would agree if the tires showed any signs of abnormal wear but they don't, no rubber in the wheel wells either.

I think my theory may pan out, the dealer put the axles in and could not turn the car in the bay, the posi is locked up like a spool, which would do exactly what it did twist the axles off.

Ted.

but to the op, it sounds very unlikely that in normal driving they just popped like that. sounds like there's more to the story. a kid lying to their parent because they don't want to get in trouble for doing something they shouldn't have been doing? impossible
meh..........

good for you. if a quaife has failed thats a new one for me. Never seen it. Lifetime warrantly. Interested to see inside the trans but if its all warranty, good for you...

Ted.
happened to my brothers beater car a few weeks ago. the differential binded up, and it exploded. was because it was towed in nuetral with the front wheels on the ground and the differential was turning with no hydraulic pressure (car was no running).

best of luck ted, hope the tranny is ok

Dealer pulled the trans, could not find any signs of Abuse, Quaif was locked up until they unbolted the ring gear then it freed up, there is some gauling of the surfaces so they are replacing the transmission under warrantee along with the axles.

Cost more to rebuild it than replace it.

Yes. I don't break axles....I grenade transmissions.
