how much boost should I be making??
Ok, so I just picked up my car from the dealership, I traded in my truck for it. Now I know that these cars claim to be 200+hp but for some reason it really does not feel like that at all. When I really step on it, the boost gauge is showing around 2.5 , does that make any sense at all?
This car is completely stock, its a 2007 cobalt ss/sc ... I was really expecting more, unless there might be a problem with it???? I had a stock neon that felt like it pulled harder and it only ran 15.7 on the 1/4...
any info would be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance.

Cel ?? is that the engine light? There are no lights on that should not be on. I just called and spoke with them and I am going to bring the car back tomorrow so they can take a look at it... Does anyone know where its documented on how much boost they should be making?
Or is this just me? I ran 1st 2nd and 3rd gear up to around 5000 rpm, maybe a little higher , and still , the gauge would read just over 2psi and that was it......

no offense, but you probably should have done more research before buying it? No factory boosted car makes that little boost...there would be no point.
Hope the dealership helps you out, but next time check everything out first...

It was only today when I took the car home from the dealership around 6pm that I noticed anything, well it was actually when I got close to home, I was on the hiway and decided to punch it just to see what happens, I was not impressed at all, then did it again and looked at the boost gauge and thats when I noticed the problem.
I got home around 8pm and called the dealership and spoke with the guy who sold me the car, he instantly told me to bring the car back in the morning and the mechanic would take a look at it.
Thanks again for the info, I just needed a number to go in there with tomorrow ( the 12.5 psi )
As luck would have it, one of the other people that work at this dealership actually drives a ss/sc , so i will have someone to back me up on the numbers lol...

None taken at all, I agree with you. I took it for a test drive prior to buying it but when I drove the car it was snowing, so I could not really get on the gas too hard. I did take it on the hi way and get it up to speed ( 60 mph ) and everything felt fine, the car was clean inside and out.

well after almost a ten hour day the problem is finally solved. I took it to my dealership, they were unable to figure it out because they are not equiped for chevy's at all, so I had to take it down the street to another dealership. The car sat for almost 6 hours before they finally looked at it, it turned out to be something with a vacuum hose and some corroding around something on the bypass . I have the bill in my car but I am so worn out from today that I cant go up and get it lol
Thanks again for all the help, and let me tell you WOW, what a huge difference that makes now, the charger was actually not putting out any boost, now its hitting in the 80's car pulls nice and hard all the way through and loves melting the tires if I even think about doing it in first gear lol..
thanks again for all the help, really appreciated it.
